Also, I need headphones that will fit a large noggin.
Right now I have JVC HA-S680's.

They're very nice (I like the build quality) but I want more bass and more volume, if possible.
Does such an animal exist?

Thanks for the suggestion, but the S500 looks silly with HM5 earpads, which are needed for them to be over ear, and requires modding that I'm not interested in doing.
Which is why I originally chose the S680.
Any other recommendations?

The JBL Synchros S500 looks very interesting, though I don't usually buy used or refurbished.
