Can't beat the Mojo for $399. The DAC is just so far superior to anything out there under $500.
I have FiiO BTR3 and M9 -- while they don't sound bad, they're not even close to Mojo IMHOFiio Q5s looks much more appealing because Bluetooth is a huge convenience. Chord mojo's usage feels very primitive, don't know about the sound quality comparision though.
xDSD sounds a bit warmer and more musical while Q5s has a more clinical, neutral sound.Probably it has been asked many times but I gonna ask too: xDsd vs Q5s , which one sounds better?
IMO... XD-05 PLUS... with Sparkos SS3602 (with DIP8 spacer)... Truly amazing sound...
but SS3602 is way too tall... planning to cut the casing and put clear acrylic on-top...
Comparison:
Original OPA1612 => dull sounding, lacks high/low extension
OPA637 => more open than OPA1612, but lacks layering (2D sound) flat layer
SS3602 => this is the best I ever heard on portable, 3D sound, excellent layering, excellent timbre...
FYI... I compared Shanling M0 + XD-05 PLUS (SS3602) -vs- iBasso DX220 (amp1mkII & amp9), Opus #2, AP80
iem/hp: InEar PP8, iBasso IT04, Brainwavz B400, Oppo PM3, Hifiman Edition XX
Thank you... Cheers...
"Portable" DAC/AMP to drive Focal Elegia...
I am very happy with the ifi hip-dac driving the Elegia. Mojo is great but 4 times the price. I think the hip-dac sounds as good and has more power plus balanced output which I use with a Hart Cable.Any portable DAC/AMP recommendations to drive Focal Elegia or similar $1k closed back headphones?7
