Looking for a portable headphone or IEM. My bugdet will be $300. I listen mostly to alt. Rock and folk. Isolate well, and comfortable. Was thinking the Mad Dogs and I'll most likely go with those, I have a O2 to drive them.. Anyways, 1500th post!

The Sony EX1000, UM3x, GR07, GR10 are recommended for these genres music and they all sound detailed yet fun to listen.

What about the Mad Dogs? No? If so, I'll get the UM3x.

What if I raised my budget to $500? Would that open up a lot of options?

Yes soundquality will increase then list goes to PFE232(offers tips which change sound like balanced, bassy or more highs), Westone 4, Heir Audio 4Ai, Audio Techina ATH CK100Pro ect. But in your current budget the IEMs with more mids centric soundsignature like UM3x, SM3, GR10, EX1000, RE272, GR01 are great buy.

^^ I love the madogs and the o2 is plenty to drive them well. Although they are very ruggedly built, they are also slightly heavy and bulky and maybe not the most portable. They are decent for a portable solution because of the build quality.

If you want a truly portable then I'd look at an iem. I have the gr07 and love them. They are driven well from an iphone or clip zip ect.

gL!!

I really think I should get the Mad Dogs and a nice case. But nobody was giving input on them

Would they be better than a Heir Audio 4.Ai? Anyone compared them?

I have the maddogs and the gr07 for iem's. The maddogs are leaps and bounds better. Not even close and I like the gr07 quite a bit.

But...they'll take a good portable amp to drive them well. The sound signature from the maddog does not disappoint. They truly a fine hp.

Also, know of any good cases, that could carry a O2 and a Mad Dog? Maybe the Pelican 1450?

The pelican cases are great. But you might get away something a bit smaller. Where do you plan to do your traveling? Office or to school? Just curious.

Maybe the 1200? I want it to carry the Mad Dogs and a O2 amp, that is all.

I really don't have an true issue of telling you to pull the trigger on the maddogs. They are just that good. Most people wouldn't call them a portable but they are actually a good full size portable. The MD is one of my favorites of anything that I listen to.

Can't pull the trigger on them just yet, these will be for my birthday.. I need to get rid of these AKG K167, I do not like them.. Thus, this question came up. Although, I don't think my folks will like me selling these after maybe a week of owning them.. I could get out of debt from them though(

oh B&W cups for my DT880s..)
