No graphics card, though. I just remote into it via web GUI. If I ever need a video output I have graphics cards laying around, but nothing efficient enough to put it in there full time. (The Threadripper's hogging enough power as-is).
I want to start 2 projects with AMD but I am afraid of all the issues with the APU models. 5600G and 5700G both have some issues. Is there any specific feature the motherboards needs to boot without GPU? - AM4 motherboards I am thinking of buying AMD non-APU models, maybe 5600.

I was laptop only for like 13 years after my Athlon 64 X2 GeForce 6800 GTX system died on me back in the day.

Got my last gaming laptop summer of 2020 when the pandemic was entering full swing. That was:

i7-10875h
32 gigs DDR4 running 2933 mhz
Nvidia 2070 Super
1080p VA panel

In February I finally decided to get back into the desktop world, which meant I had to get a monitor.

So I started with an:
Alienware 27 360Hz QD OLED Gaming Monitor AW2725DF
This is my first OLED and my first ever HDR monitor. Funny, HDR wasn't even on my radar but now its a killer app. I figured I would only use HDR in a small group of titles that supported it properly but there are multiple tools to use HDR even in 25+ year old games and it looks amazing.

Intel i7-14700kf
MSI Nvidia 4080 Super
32-gigs DDR5 6000 mhz
850 watt PSU

Can you believe I paid a grand total of $2199 for that? My first ever prebuilt. I was worried that the video card would break off in shipping or something but nope. There was a very thick rigid piece of foam holding it in place.

If you told me I would ever get a prebuilt I wouldn't have believed you but I have had no issues.

Anybody here who finds a SoC motherboard with: Intel CPU on it or AMD CPU on it. with following specs. MUCH APPRECIATED!

Atleast x8 mode for a PCIE x16 slot.

However an M-ATX with x8 mode and x4 mode on the PCIe x16 slots would be a dream for me :)

I got the Asus ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2024)

Specs:
18" 240Hz Mini LED display at 2560x1600
Windows 11 Pro
1TB NVMe M.2 SSD - added a second SSD, a 2TB WD_Black SN850X M.2
32GB DDR5/5600
Intel Core i9 14900HX CPU
GeForce RTX 4080 12GB

Took out the stock WIFI6e M.2, swapped it out with the Intel B1750X (BE200) Killer series WIFI7 w/Bluetooth 5.4
I might clone the 1TB drive and put in another 2TB, but not sure if it's needed yet. I will have to see how much the 2TB drive fills up after I use it for a while.

I really like the display on this thing.
Only tested out "Horizon: Forbidden West" for a few minutes, and it runs pretty well.

I almost got that exact laptop then I decided to get my first desktop in 10+ years and a QD-OLED monitor. Took a minute to get used to a 27" screen after using 17" for more than a decade

Good idea. I have a LG OLED 48" and a 55" OLED C1, so I'm good in the 'big monitor' section.

However, I'm gonna be going on extensive travel the rest of this year, and my older laptop has a really, really awful display. It's over 3 years old, so figured this one should last me a while.
With Horizon on my current playlist, and Ghosts of Tsushima coming out, I will have several weeks of free time to enjoy the beauty of these games on the laptop.
