Which model is for you?

Both ÆON Flow headphone models are suitable for use as all-around headphones for any genre of music. Given that one is open and the other closed, they sound much more similar than not. That said, they do have sonic differences so the following comments are intended to help you choose the headphone that's best for your needs.
  • Naturally if you require isolation to reduce noise or to not bother others, we suggest our closed version
  • If isolation is not an issue open ÆON Flow, Open delivers a more robust upper bass to midrange transition. Those wanting a slightly warmer delivery may prefer the open version
  • ÆON Flow, Open has a larger soundstage
  • Electronica fans wanting a dedicated headphone may prefer the ÆON closed, which offers about 3-4dB more output below 40 Hz, but both headphones are very easy to EQ

  • A tuning kit to allow personalization of your sonic experience
?
can you provide more details on this, please.
Sure, it's inserts that you drop into the ear-cavity on the pads, they allow you to sculpt the sound by adjusting the damping on the driver. This gives you a degree of control over the delivery of the midrange and highs, and they increase the relative bass output as well. Some people prefer a brighter delivery, and will likely enjoy the headphone without the inserts, those who want a warmer delivery will likely use them.

A note on deciding to use the inserts; don't go back and forth quickly, most people will almost always conclude there's more detail without the inserts, but that's not quite a complete view of the question. Essentially when you use extra damping, you're reducing treble output a bit, and that's easy to call extra detail. However, if you simply listen for a day with and then a day without, you will likely find the detail is there, it's just reduced in amplitude.

So to use the tuning to find what works best for you, just take your time and see which mode offers a better long-term experience vs 30 secs of one track.

Stunning! I love the honeycomb look. I wouldn't be surprised to eventually end up with both versions, closed for the office/commute and open at home. Of course, I still have to try the open one first.

Edit: closed for commute, not open
