Hello all,
I just wanted to ask if what my dad and I are both hearing is just our imagination.
First off, I am streaming spotify premium high quality on both PS4 and PC.
We both swear that tracks have extra depth and clarity from my ps4 going into my Schiit Modi 3 and JBL 305 speakers. We tested our theory with Mac DeMarco and Breaking Benjamin.
I disabled audio enhancements on my computer and it still sounds weirdly dull and veiled.
Does anyone have suggestions related to bit-perfect audio and optimizing digital sound?

There's something wrong with the receiver chip, firmware/driver interaction, or the whole USB circuit on the Modi3.

Why have I not heard of this before? It was a really significant difference, much greater than low quality mp3 to high quality mp3 in my opinion. Thanks for the reply!!

Is there a way to remedy this and have good sound quality from my desktop?

Hey sorry to double post but you missed something in the article. The author states that using WASAPI resolved issues and they recommend the modi 3 without reservation.

Are you connecting the Modi 3 to both using optical?
Go into Win PC > control panel > Sound > Playback tab and set to (Realtek?) pass-thru for optical
Install the free program Foobar2000, with WASAPI installed, then try playing a good quality MP3 or FLAC audio file, see if that testing improves the audio quality.

WASAPI etc. And likely you need the other USB for auxiliary power hooked up.

I won't be much help there as I don't use Tidal. As much as you just install Wasapi to bypass any OS changes I'm not sure how that works with MQA.
