What's the cheapest means of pulling the digital audio from an HDMI line to go into a USB input DAC without adding latency to the video signal? The source only has an HDMI output.
For example

                          Powered USB Port \/                         DAC
                             _____________[  ]-----------------[   ]-------------------------<Speakers
            Hdmi         /  USB(audio)
Source-----------[  ]
                            \____________[  ]TV/monitor
                             Hdmi (video)

Thanks!

You wouldn't want to go into a USB DAC (converting that would be near impossible). What you want is a HDMI DAC pretty much what a receiver, which is exactly what you need.

Marantz has a couple of their lower end units which are pretty affordable. If you prefer just a Pre amp receiver they exist too.

I already have a USB Dac/amp that I use as a preamp, the o2/oDAC, I really don't wanna buy a full receiver because I already have an amp for my passive speakers and I just use my amp/DAC as a preamp / volume control
