Actually sold my monarch mk2 and kept my s12. Mk2 got better mids but s12 is faster, snappier, punchier. Im only going for planars from now on and i think i will need theese.
If they ship DHL to you, its quite fast. I think most of their DHL orders ship out at the end of the week, and then DHL takes just a few days to get to USA since it is an express service option.
S12 and Timeless are still probably my favorite two Planar iems out there. The i4 is fantastic if you can handle using EQ/cipher cable and deal with sometimes very frustrating fit, but it cost a bundle and then some.
I think this specific IEM presents sound totally totally different than any other planar IEM i've tried.

Different how, in a good or bad way? I've never tried a planar IEM and my daily driver right now is the FD5 and soon to be FH9. I'm a soundstage junkie, V shape aficionado, and a sub-bass lover. I'm looking for something with a wide stage with good imaging for music/gaming, the fact that these are fully open back piques my interest as I don't like the sound of my voice occlusion when using comms. Would you say these are a good fit for my preference and use case?

Has your opinion about these IEMs changed from your last post? Do you still think detail retrieval is sub-par for the price or compared to other planars?
And would you say the soundstage is good?

My first impressions posted yesterday on Discovery Thread:
My first impressions of the Hook is that it actually has a mid-range that reminds me of the softness and lower-resness of Aftershokz, which i have listened to recently within the last couple weeks. That said, its a pleasant sound, maybe too smoothed over, and missing exacting detail and edge. It's tonality is for the most part fine, it just presents sound a little softer and different. I wouldn't call this hi-res audio for some reason, but this is just my initial impressions after about an hour of listening. These are very comfortable to wear and the color of the cable is really nice. Connectors are also swappable.

I listened to it for a short-time today, as I'm trying to spend more time on a different loaner IEM that needs to take priority first. That said, I don't know if my impressions have really changed. I opened up the music choices today from just jazz and acoustic music to pop and rock genres today. In some of the electro-pop type music, there was a bit more bright harshness on the Hook X than I'd like, and it sounds rather grainy overall. It's an interesting sound. It does not sound like a typical planar headphone or planar IEM, at least any that I've tried. It does have this ethereal type sound to it, but also doesn't project good detail retrieval either. Soundstage is sounds bigger to me than other planar IEMs only because I feel like the note weight and edge is lacking a tad. Most of the recent chi-fi planars are very forward sounding, which shoots the details at you. This presents a more laidback sound to me. Cozy sound, analog sound. I don't know if it's for me personally.

I watched today HBB’s Youtube review/comparison of the Hook-X, S12 and Timeless. My take-away, according to HBB, was how impressive, and close in audio quality, all 3 sets were. That left only the price comparison for which the S12 stood out as best value…
I’m still waiting for the IEM, planar or otherwise, that might replace my S12 set.
