For a while I've been wanting to upgrade my Centrance DACmini PX to something more modern. Here are my requirements
It's for my desktop so space is limited and I don't need much power. So far the only thing I've found suitable is the Denon PMA-60. The problem is that it's been out for more than a year and there is not a single shop in Australia that sells them. There are units available on ebay but most are from Japan, which use 100 voltage, and I would prefer to buy from a retailer.
Here were some close contenders.
- DSD256-capable chip
- USB/optical/bluetooth/sub out
- Stereo/headphone amps
- Compact
- $AUD1500 max

- audiolab M-DAC+: no sub out
- Denon PMA-50: only DSD128
- TEAC AI-301DA: only DSD128 and reports of noise
- SMSL A6: no sub out
- PS Audio Sprout100: only DSD128, and USB/optical inputs share the same 'digital' source setting!
