What other amps, moreso the less expensive options, are comparable to the performance of the RSA flagship headphone amps? After reading a lot of reviews/impressions of both the Dark Star and Apache, it seems like those amps give one of the most speaker-like "out-of-your-head" presentations out there. Their price tag would definitely be a reach with my income, but would likely be paired to LCD3 or LCDX (future of course).
So what amps between 1-2K are in the same ballpark, or do you really have to get into the 2K+ range to start actually competing with the likes of the RSA Apache/Dark Star? Mjolnir, Bryston, etc. even close?
