It is the Goossens orchestration. An interesting experiment in that Handel, being somewhat of a P. T. Barnum showman, would probably have embraced. The artists and performance are very good, and the recording is superb.
I understand and agree, but there are just too many, well, of everything in this orchestration. Just a preference thing. But even for me, it gets a listen every now and again. Hasn’t improved my opinion yet, but you never know! I think I’ve accumulated more than 50 recordings of Messiah over the years, covering most of Händel’s score variations/changes and some odd versions as well. Fun to hear them all.

Beautiful Lyr! 1 or 2?
Thank you kindly for that. It's a 2 with my favorite Ediswan CV 2492s

They really love my old LCD XCs, remember the ones with the wood cups and weigh 500 lbs! Those. :)

The wood is Paladin beautiful though.

Wow, as a result of typing that I just thought of:

"Finnegan Tabby Tiger Wood Custom Cups"......

.......(sorry, but they're smaller than speakers, and you can stack them for space savings! Now bcowen will want the first pair in D cups to go with his new lamps....)

The version I heard on Qobuz and previously commented on is the RPO under Beecham - very large orchestra and chorus (great voices). Recording is interesting with great spatial cues, but L-R balance is pushed to the L. Top end treble is missing - very anemic cymbals.

I listened to the CD on the office headphone rig [Sony transport, MMulti2, Vali2, hd6xx and audio technica cans] , and found no channel imbalance, anemic cymbals, or other artifacts. Cymbals, harp, piccolo were as they should be. I sincerely hope that Qobuz does not have an "improved" remaster, as the above album art is much different than what I have.

Ohm is out of business, or so I heard. Last owners retired.
Their (or someones) web site is still active. It says they no longer replace bad drivers with NOS; their (apparently only) craftsman retired. Site says the have new models, though.

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate these kinds of things, and happy 5th birthday to this little mental health professional:

I've seen a lot of cat-pictures here, but I gotta say, for me this is the most beautiful one, by far.. Nice..

I suspect the Apple version is the same if Qobuz but I do not have Apple Music currently.
Hard to say, because we cannot sit together and compare all two versions of streaming and the CD.

I trust my hearing. :). The Beecham remaster is biased towards the left stage. My system has no imbalance issues. Easy to test with a mono signal.

And the CD is not biased towards left?
