Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Took delivery of Yggdrasil MIB on May 2, 2024. Has been powered on since 1230pm on May 2. I've listened to a selection of CD via URD, Freya+, Mjolnir3.
The Yggdrasil has sonic potential, but this unit is a Hum-Monster, gave me a headache. Replaced the Bifrost2/64 into the system, and it is a very good DAC, the system has synergy returned, no hum or noise from any other Schiit product listed.
I requested an RA this morning and will repackage the Yggdrasil.
Sorry to hear this. I have been running an OG without hum for over a year. Ground loop can be an issue to resolve, but it sounds like you have already moved on- hope you are happy with BF 2/64.

You had the same problem I had. I got an after market power cable and the hum is mostly gone.
Here: Amplifier power cable

Yeah, Ive never had any humming either on either of my Yggys. Although I never really gave them a chance to operate with the stock power cable as I had them on Wireworld Stratus power conditioning cables from initial warm-up.

I don't think power cables can cause something like that. I don't even use a power conditioner or any power strip with voltage cutoff at all on my setup at all so pretty much everything is straight to the wall and has no issues whatsoever

Is the hum in the signal, or is the transformer vibrating?
More likely transformer hum from being operated close to its tolerable limits. Eg. 124V (from grid) instead of 120V, or in EU, transformer is rated to 50Hz for example but is being run at 60Hz aside from the voltage limits

No hum on my yggy A2, running the audio off 2-3 breakers, comingled with ps5, router, 5.1 pre/pro, rel bluetooth, and a 8 year old laptop with filthy usb ports.

Not a ground loop issue? Rca or xlr make a difference?
if its RCA than thats why

Shouldn't be humming no matter what. Both RCA outputs have been fine on both my otherwise buggy Yggys.

This was transformer hum. The unit hummed whether it was connected to another device or not. Pulled the power cord, it stopped humming. No signal hum. I could detect hum through the open headphones during quiet passages, turn the volume up and mask the hum.
