Sorry you are right as always. The 650's have a larger soundstage... sorry again. I get so mixed up sometimes.

So, I've been loving my 650s for the past 2 months, but I'm wondering if I can get more out of them than I am with my E7/E9. I've heard a lot of buzz about this Schiit Valhalla, and am wondering what a good USB DAC ($200-300 USD) may go with it (home use, don't need to move it around). Any suggestions?

Looking forward to reading that. There's no question you've heard the HD650 at its best and will present a balanced comparison. With the exception of impressions of the LCD-2 or HE-6, I'm quite wary of the hyperbole laced proclamations of such and such ortho putting the HD650 to shame. The lower tier orthos seem to be getting a lot of attention lately and it's been stated and now regurgitated by those who haven't even heard both, that the HE-4 blows the HD650 out of the water. Personal preferences aside, I suspect those making these comments haven't heard the HD650 through components that do it justice. This is from a Headfonia article on the HE-4:

For the DAC, a Twisted Pear Opus with a Ballsie Lite would work well.  I'm loving mine to death.  The build is $262 + case + connectors so roughly $320 ball park, maybe $340 if you splurge on panel components.
 
On topic, since I have my Opus complete now, HD 650's are next on the list!

Although I would like to read it too it's defo an unfair comparison, HE-500's are twice the price of the 650's. A more fairer comparison would be the HE 5LE's these are only about $200 more than the 650's.

Currently HD650 is powered by a DAC/amp combo, I suppose the HD650 would definitely benefit from proper amping. Would Schiit Lyr be the "final" amp to get or is there something better for the money?

The Lyr would be a good choice if you planned to upgrade to Ortho's in the future. The HD650's sound's wonderful with the Lyr but it is overkill if you are planning on staying with the HD650's as your only can for a significant period of time.

My view on this hobby, in terms of importance, headphones > source > amp. Thus, the whole idea is to buy an amp that is "future-proof". I'm looking into getting a LCD2 or HE6 towards the end of the year once funds permit.

Then the Lyr would be a great choice for you, that's what I did I had the HD650's and bought the Lyr then upgraded to the LCD-2's
