the real risk to pre-order is quite limited.
My risk is even more limited, because the IE 900s are still not available for preorder on the Italian Sennheiser site. 😩

 .. that's life !!!
I am sorry for you, but I imagine, the waiting shouldn't be so long after actual preorders are completed...

I have one one simple question. How you can order an IEM's which cost $1300+tax without even knowing how does it sound like. There is almost no information on these. Graphs? They mean almost nothing. We all have different ears. Another question. Is there a way to return them if you do not like them after all? Probably not. Personally, I will wait until I will have more feedbacks from those who bought it and some more reviews on YouTube. For now i see $1300 IEM with SO SO cables and almost no options for tips. And i need to live with those cables till somebody going to manufacture aftermarket ones especially for these IEM's. Do they worth all those problems? I do not know. We will see.

I am with you on this. That's why I am waiting for more reviews and will try to read as many as possible omce they are available while looking for the chance to hear them by myself at a store. I feel that there's no point for me to blind purchase anyway since I already have other pairs to listen to in the meantime. It's a good thing that the IE 900 attracts my attention immediately just by virtue of how it looks. But I need to spend sometime with it before I buy since I am a little impatient (and lazy) to sell anything myself down the road.

If I wanted to maximize the performance out of the ie 900, what kind of gear would we need?

I'm not too interested in DAPs unless they can connect to PC, so what kind of balanced system could bring the most out of the 900? Only thing I have is a K5 Pro, and I don't want the feeling of "what would better sound like." You guys know how it is in this hobby.

I’m quite confident this will punch above it’s weight class, but would have reservations about going up against the Fourte or similar. I don’t think it’s the same target market either - time will tell though.

I’m looking forward to reviews that have some actual comparisons (and to relevant IEMs) - including high end IEMs and similar single DD designs.

Good point there but I wouldn't put sennheiser in the same basket as all other brands!

I would ultimately say there is 3 huge massive corporation that we have today that does very nice flagship lvl sound tuning. Sennheiser, sony, shure. There might be some other maybe I dont know them all.

Sennheiser and sony has mass market covered and their buy power leverage is massive! Without mentioning the huge R&D available at their disposal with more then 50years experience.

This bring us to say that ie900 may seem lower cost tier then very expensive totl iem but it is in fact not, off course rest to confirm by hearing it and compare.

I speak of my experience with hd800s that headphone cost half the cost of an expensive totl headphones but yet it delivers sound that not many even to date can achieve....
Yea its not a perfect headphone but its ultra natural and extremely realistic as sound! 2 times the fourté!

Sony Ierz1r is also just 500$ more then ie900 yet many have agreed that its a very good flagship iem. So will be the ie900.

I remember when I bought my SE846 it was 1k back then and I am happy to see that the price range have stayed pretty even and haven't sky rocketed. This is the normal pricing of the market!

Things like tralili and the new iem made of cactus tree are ridiculous price tags, why 6k ? Kidding me 🤣 buying it make manufacturers inflate price tags and killing the market normal price tags.

Oh well everyone is free to buy what they like I am just sharing my point of view 😛🙃

I also think tia Fourté is over priced too.

Here’s Sennheiser’s global shop:
https://global.shop.sennheiser.com/

If you aren’t able to pre-order right now, the global roll out should begin in July.
💥🔨

I will ask around! By the way, which is your authorized dealer in the US?

There are many! Here’s the US website listing online dealers: https://en-us.sennheiser.com/dealer-locator?article=507360

Sennheiser 660s, 560s, ie 800s, HD 800s. Is it safe to assume the ie900 will get an S upgrade? Knowing their history of doing that makes me hesitant to pre order.

You're over-thinking it. Some businesses (cars, phones, sneakers) get a planned update every year. This is not the case in the audio biz. IE 900 was launched 9 days ago. For comparison, HD 800S succeeded HD 800 almost 6 years later with a different set of market conditions. We simply hope you get to try it and determine if it's what you want to own for how you experience music...hi-fi rarely gets more complicated than that.

Maybe I missed it, but is there any scheduled North American review tour of the IE900?
This is always a good idea. Dunno if Senn does it.
