On the other hand, the M3s has truly balanced circuitry, with dual DAC and Two MUSE8920 chips as low-pass filter, M3s also has a tad more power with a tad lower output impedance, otherwise it should be quite similar.

I hear there's a tool to create/add/change the themes of the M3s? is there any way I can get that this late?

how about album cover art? there's an option to look for a trakk cover and lyric using the Lyby app, but there's no option to "apply" it?
Screenshot_20200409-005704.png
everytime I push "close" it always just go back to playback screen with still no album art showing.
same with the Lyric, theres a couple showing up when it look up, and there's a "Apply" button, but whnn I go back after picking one it doesnt save on the lyric screen of the app
is the M3s incapable of applying this feature in the Hiby app?

or was it really designed to "look for lyrics and album art" but not save it in the player?

I believe such function is there only for attaching cover and lyrics to files that are directly on the smartphone, not on connected HiBYLink device.

To use M3s with external DAC, simply connect matching USB cable, there is no need to go to settings.

USB Mode is setting to use M3s as DAC with computer.
OTG in file browser is usable, when you want to play files from external memory connected over USB.
I tried connecting the M3s to my DAC Topping Dx7s which I've used and worked with my phone using an USB OTG adapter, but when I tried connecting it with the Shanling it doesn't connect, am I missing something here? is it just unfortunate that the M3s doesn't match with my DAC?

edit: ah my bad it seems to be from loose connection, after I eject it from the case it has firmer contact it seems.

I do have a question tho, the volume setting still seems to affect the volume on the dac, is it better if I just max the M3s volume and let the DAC control it like I did with my PC and phones when I used them with DAC?

Not exactly related, but i've tried to connect my M3s to my SMSL SU-8 DAC. I was never able to stream dsf files thru. So, when at home my Foobar2K/PC sources to my DAC, and then to my hp amplifier

It's recommended to have volume on 100% when using digital out to DAC.

Tested all three DSD output modes?

I find a quirk in mine that the M3s doesn't detect the DAC the first time i connected it. I need to "bait" it by connecting a flash disc first so it detected the USB and go into OTG mode, detach the flash disc without removing the OTG cable, and only then attach the USB connected to my DX7S, try that out as well, we might be having the same problem.

So far using the DAC has preserved the battery for the M3s quite well, used it connected for +-6 hours last night and not a single bar of battery drop, I only use Hiby Link to control playback so I didn't turn on the screen nor use the volume wheel at all.
That's probably, on top of the 0 usage of the amp & dac what makes it only sips power, might be a great way to preserve the life of the internal battery while still playing the thousands of songs stored inside.
WFH make me use it less outside after all

Tested all three DSD output modes?
Finally tested it:
D2P is the only one mode playing anything at all, and only till dsd64. Above that no sound at all.
DoP produces no sound, no matter the DSD bit rate.
Native, I get white noise covering a very faint music level. The set piece is there, but blanketed by the white noise, no matter the DSD bit rate.

It's not a problem to me, as I do not use my M3s as a transport for another DAC. For that i've got my PC.
Thanks anyway
