Just curious how long others are getting off their M9+ battery. After a battery recalibration, I seem to get about 6 hours on low gain with wifi and bt off, second screen on. Seems kinda low.
That does seem rather low... I was just thinking yesterday (aside from my little BT issue) that Shanling have a good thing going with battery life with the M9 and M9+.

Just to be sure, what do you mean by Battery recalibration? And it's 6 hours from 100% to dead unit to to low battery levels?

Is this brand new unit? Or used?

It has also quite a big impact what files you are running. Classic redbook against DSD256 or MQA will show quite a big swing.

The unit was bought used from a forum member. I am playing primarily flac (some DSD) using UAPP and doing that thru the balanced input.

Battery recalibration as I understand it: I play the unit until it shuts down (appx 2-3%) and then turn it on until it cannot boot up. Then I plug it in and fully charge to 100%. When full, but still plugged in, I turn it on, let it boot up and make sure it's at 100%. Then I unplug and use.

The unit agrees saying I'm getting about 6 hours.

Are there any audio differences between the different gain modes?
Not that I've been noticing. Admittedly not been using high gain very often, but between lo and med gain, power/volume seems to be the only appreciable difference.

Hello @Shanling,

can you kindly advise: I'm the first owner of a M9+. My device is unloading -18% pts over 14 hours when switched off. I was coming down from 80% to 62% during that time. Do you agree this behaviour is out of specs?

Besides the outstanding sound quality, I am certainly not impressed with the battery drain during regular use. I tried all sorts of source files, mp3, flac, DSD in all combinations of the amplification circuits and never managed to get over 5 hours. I'd also like to point out that I charge all my devices up to 80% only, in general. Since the M9+ battery experience was underwhelming, I decided to also charge a handful of times up to 100%, hoping for some (positive) tipping point effect, but there was none. Nothing had improved

Referring back to my initial point of 18% pts discharge over 14 hours when the device is entirely switched off, is my understanding correct that I probably have a malfunctioning device that I am supposed to hand in for repair / exchange?

Thanks.

If possible, please contact your seller and send them your unit for testing.

Has anyone experienced issues with the pause/play button not working? It seems mine has stopped to function and wonder if there are known fixes.

This is my second unit already and I really do hope I don't need to try get this replaced again... @Shanling any ideas?

Ugh, sorry to hear that. Mine has exhibited no such issue. My battery is clearly whacked, but nothing like this has occurred.

I had a battery issue on my first unit, presumably a loose connection somewhere inside the unit. This second one has been fine for about 3 months now but the pause/play isn't functioning since a few days back.

I'd feel bad if I have to send this back for a third one...

Tried factory resets via both Android system reset as well as recovery mode, neither of which fixed the problem. Probably a hardware side issue, looks like this might have to go back for warranty again.

I have a unit coming in next week but the battery and other issues reported on this thread aren’t exactly inspiring confidence 😅

You can find such hardware issues on any device on the market. Just buy from a reliable shop that offers a proper warranty and there is nothing to fear.

After factory reset it seems it would have to be a hardware issue, either on inner alignment or the button itself.
