Shanling Q1 - Retro-Styled Portable Hi-Fi Music Player
Dec 27, 2020 at 7:48 AM Post #271 of 584
Should the Q1 have enough power for the Sennheiser HD569? The specs are 23 Ohm and 115dBSPL (1kHz/1Vrms). Can anyone speculate whether I might need a more powerful dap (or amp)? (Or even better yet, any first hand experience?) Thanks!

The Q1 will have no problem driving those headphones well. My NAD Viso HP50's are only 32 ohms and 98db sensitivity and I am driving them on low gain 56-60/100 and plenty loud enough. I actually have to crank the volume higher on my more powerful Fiio M9 (low gain 72-75/120) for satisfying volume compared to the Q1.

If you want more evidence I can drive my AKG K240's which are 55 ohms and 104 Sensitivity (dB SPL/V @ 1 kHz) low gain 80-85/100 or even better on high gain 68-72/100.

I have had this unit for almost 3 weeks and I like it more than my much more expensive M9 as it sounds just as good (actually more natural sounding). I like it so much I just sold my M9 to a buddy. Q1 boots alot faster, scans the library light years faster and as mentioned has plenty of power for my headphones. Oh and twice the battery life of the M9 for the icing on the cake. The UI is not quite as good but still very functional and responsive and pretty easy to navigate

So in case you haven't guessed I highly recommend the Q1. :dt880smile:

@Shanling

I'm having problems connecting to my Q1 from my Windows 10 laptop via bluetooth. I'm trying to use it as a receiver to listen to audio from my laptop. It connects briefly but it appears as disabled in the playback devices list and it disconnects shortly after that. Any suggestions?

Does it work fine when connected with phone or showing the same issue?

Connecting to my phone seems fine. It always seems to use AAC even though LDAC(HQ) is selected though.

I can't quite figure out what's going on. It was working yesterday, but I can't get to connect now. Upairing and pairing again doesn't seem to work.

On the Q1 itself, it always stays at the connecting stage altough my PC bluetooth devices list says that it's connected.

Do you have LDAC set on the Q1 or in settings on your phone? When using Q1 as a receiver, you need to make sure to have this set on your phone.

Q1 works as a really any other Bluetooth receiver/headphones, there is nothing on side of Q1 to set for this. Just make sure you have synclink turned off.

Thanks. It now seems to be connected to my phone using LDAC. I still can't get to work with my computer as a bluetooth receiver though, which is the main reason I bought this device. Any ideas?

Was charging the unit today and after I removed the cable the unit still thinks it is in charging mode. The symbol for charging is threre. Also it is very warm and the battery is draining fast, like 30 minutes from 100 to 0. I have factory reset all settings but no luck. What to do?
Edit: Next day I tried charging it and I notice it gets warm again, but I cannot get the screen on, even if I press the wheel for about 5-10 seconds. Had it charging at least 30 minutes before trying to power it on. Looks like it's dead but it's not completely dead because it's charging and getting warm (hot!).

Edit 2: with better charger I can get it on, battery is 7 percent. As I remove cable it turns off, because the battery is low. I try charging it little to see what happens, even if it's getting pretty warm. See if it still be stuck in charging mode and draining battery.

Edit 3: still stuck in charging mode after removing cable. It's getting very warm and battery draining. Can you maybe reinstall firmware. Will that fix the issue you think? Also I noticed it freezes while charging or it's reacting slow. If you remove cable it's fine again. Attached a picture. You see it's in charging mode but no cable is attached IMG_20210110_124909.jpg

Looks like you will have to contact the seller and see if you can sort the warranty on it.

Bought this on Kickstarter so it will be Shanling themselves. I wait for their reply here first, if they have anything more to say

You might get a faster response from Shanling if you ask them on the M8 or new M3X forum. Probably where @Shanling will be spending alot of his time now with their latest and greatest DAP releases. When did you receive your Q1? I know it was officially released last March but not sure about kickstarter and when your warranty might expire. I wouldn't wait and would press Shanling pretty quickly for a response. Glad I waited November to get mine so Shanling could iron out any hardware issues. It was just a few dollars more than kickstarter and I only had to do one firmware update so worth the wait.

I'm afraid you will need to send your Q1 back to us for warranty repair.

Fair enough, it seemed you were posting more in the other threads.
