HI,

I'm planning on buying AKG Q701, but there's AKG K701 on the side. I'm confused, in my country they cost the same, but people are saying that the Q701 sounds more warmer, and that it causes the sound stage to be slightly smaller, and the Q701 won't have as much detail as the AKG K701. This worries me that the sound stage is smaller, is it true?

The Q701 has badging  outside on the speakers, not the K701, will this affect anything?

I think they both sound good, but the Q701 is an updated K701 and has slightly more warmth as you have discovered.  The soundstage may appear a bit smaller, but it is still quite wide and enjoyable.  I have used the K701, Q701, and K712 Pro and ended up keeping the K712 Pro due to the added bass and comfort.

I didn't own those two at the same time,
still I have strong recollection of the K
having a larger soundstage and slightly less
bass than the Q.  Overall, I preferred
the K because of its remarkably large
soundstage.

I currently have the K712, which to my
ears has even a smaller soundstage
(though still quite good), even more bass
(though still not bass heavy at all)
and more detail than either of the others.
Slightly less 'sharp' up top as well.
