I declared end-game with WM1Z and IER-Z1R as in I found my ultimate sound for portable set. I'll see how long it stays that way.
I'm starting with the stock sound of 1A and 1Z first to know the sound Sony intended first, that will help with seeing any changes may come with software update later.

I know there are fancier headphones out there, but right now my endgame is Sony NW-WM1Z (3.02), with Shure SRH1540 headphones using Lqi balanced cables. I am afraid to change a thing. It just works with the way I hear.

NPAudio gets my 1A.

I still get surprised with aural magic moments, after my NPaudio modded 1Z (in a 1A). Ever since the first modding suggestions in the legendary 1A/1Z tread, I’ve been thinking about this! After a dramatically bump/drop, I send it to NPAudio and ever since, audio heaven just got a lot bigger (& closer)! I highly recommend it.
Based on the first early impressions and reading between the lines, I believe that my 1Z can challenge the “new kid in town”!

You should try MrWalkman's firmware on the 1Z with Plus v2 mode and region MX3. I use that configuration on my 1A too (with 1Z tuning).

Can anyone post a picture form all angles for the NPAudio mod? I see the pictures they have but I wanted more visual and how much bump (and how it looks in more detail) is like in regards of that mod. Also, how minor or heavily does it change the sound signature for the 1A? If I get the 1AM2, might consider doing it.

It does but it is still quite comfortable to hold. I actually don't mind the bigger size of the M2. May be I'm used to big phones I don't know.

I think the first generation is just about the perfect size. I also shy away from Android DAPs. Hopefully Lotoo stays in house OS.

My issue with Android is the Google services that come with devices and can't be removed. If Sony gives an option to un-Google completely while still give a good method for installing apps that would be great for me
