Anyone else having issues copying files to the SD card via a Windows computer? I transfer the files to the internal storage with no issues, but I can't copy or move those files to the music folder on my SD card; any info on this?

I just copy and paste. But the Walkman will only read files on the SD if they're in the /Music folder.

I recall it happened to my A306 before, and I did a SD card reformat with the Walkman and it works fine again.

In the last few days I have been deleting unnecessary things on my AM 2 and have also had 3 accidents and have only been able to do a factory reset using a key combination. I ended up deleting a lot. 1. Everything suggested by Sonywalkmanuser. 2. Everything suggested by Whitigir. Then I had a link from Sonywalkmanuser, but it wasn't specifically for the AM 2. So there was some risk.
I was really brave and then deleted everything that was left from the list from the Reddit chat. After deleting, I restarted. No problems booting up. Of course I also adopted all the settings from Sonywalkmanuser. What can I say, everything works smoothly. I also think that somehow it sounds better now. But it could also be that I'm imagining it. I'm curious to see what you say. So you can delete everything from the list with peace of mind.

By reducing the amount of background processes, you are reducing the power consumption and heat generation. Helps with longevity of your Walkman’s battery lifespan and standby times. In my personal experience, I find that debloating the Walkman does improve its sound quality, which makes it all the more merrier. A cleaner and clearer background allowing for more fine sounds to come through.

I would believe it is best practice to first format the microSD card via the Walkman android settings for any new Walkman owners. It helps with improving speed of database updates and also helps with fluidity of album art loading.

I do sometimes on my ZX707, even though I formatted the micro sd card with the DAP.

Now, I usually remove the micro sd card and transfer files with a USB 3.x micro sd card reader. It works better.

Never had this kind of random problem with my Cowon DAPs over the years though...

On top of sensors off, I found that enabling battery saver does improve the sound abit, bass feels just a tad more impactful when not connected to charger. Not a major difference but it’s an improvement nonetheless.
Would you kindly be willing to share your private optimisation guide with me also? Appreciate all your posts, thank you 🙏🏻

I don’t think Sony sound processing works with USB out

Weirdly enough, my old WM1Z never had file transfer issues, I will reformat the card, thanks for the advice.

I think Sony missed the boat on this:

When migrating to an Android platform, they had the opportunity to build a killer Walkman app. I would have loved to see more functionality in terms of file management or metadata management.
Or even a new user interface like a carousel to pick albums to play.

When I saw pictures of the internal cables leading to the output connectors it made me wonder if anyone has DIY'd and soldered IEM cable directly... effectively eliminating the output socket and cable jack.

There are more specialised android apps that can do better at tag editing. I highly doubt Sony will do a good job at making a good file management software, especially if you look at their PC music centre software which seems very basic at best.

Also I don’t think there’s a need for a new interface, there’s not much complaints from the current user base with the current interface. In my opinion, the Sony interface feels much more intuitive and accessible than what you get from Google, Apple, A&K, FiiO and Hiby. Also if you compare the Sony music app to UAPP and Neutron, I guess Sony is definitely much more easy to navigate.
