Sony doesn't design it to be user-replaceable. But having taken apart a few Walkmans before, it's not terribly hard. If you have a precision screwdriver kit and some basic soldering skill it's very doable. Actually I believe two of the three I took apart didn't even need soldering as the battery came with a connector on the end that plugged into the circuit board.
I'm assuming of course that yours is similar internally to the ones I've dealt with, but Sony generally doesn't fool around with stuff. I think every Walkman for like a decade had pretty much the exact same guts.
