Hi guys
I would like to give a go at this Sony model.
However I am in doubt of something.
- the XBA-3 has the cable running down on the left side instead of the center
- the XBA-3IP has the cable running down on center because of the ipod control pad
I don´t really like uneven cable lengths. On the other hand,« and I really don´t know why the XBA-3IP costs close to half the price in most web searches.
I´ve seen this

but its not clear if the ip compatibility relates to the jack itself of the control unit negates sound from some sources
If I don´t use it to control an apple player or phone and just connect it to a regular portable media player (sony nwz-a866) compatible with 3 contacts jack even with the control pad hanging down will they work as any other earphone ?
better yet will I be able to control vol up and down with these ?
