So you can run all sound and chat through headphones/headsets plugged into the PS4 Dualshock 4 controller. Apple-type headsets work.

Can anyone suggest a particularly good set between $100-200?

*(EarPHONE, not earbud).

Obviously it has to be viable without an amp or DAC.

I'm not sure that expensive IEMs will benefit you when you don't have a surround sound decoder or other DAC. On the xbox you can set output to stereo and run a normal DAC which is cool. So i would of thought the PS4 is the same. Or ignore me if you're after simplicity/ wireless

I'm after high quality, no amp or DAC required - hence not bank-breaking audiophile quality. Just 'pretty damned good, wouldn't shoot myself if I accidentally destroyed them' quality.

Would non mic IEMs from TV and a $5 mic be doable as i'd do that.

I run my DT990s with a £5 mic :p

Yeah, you can get an adapter that would let you use higher-end headphones with a separate mic. Thing is, it needs to be unamped.

If you are gonna spend up to $200 then might as well just buy the Turtle Beach PX4

thinksound TS02 has a mic version for just over $100
