Also my WA3+ and ROC sound very similar when using high impedance headphones, though the Woo amp is more tubey.

Thats the first time I have read that the ROC & PHOENIX don't share the same character. Actually makes me happier I bought the Roc and not the Phoenix.
 
I mentioned on the LCD-2 thread that I made a XLR to female TRS lead to use my new T1's via the balanced output thereby using all the amp (don't want to reterminate and invalidate warrenty yet)
The sound was superb but now I have been told I should not be doing that. I emailed Kingwa who said the TRS should be earthed but the XLR isn't, but I won't damage the amp. Maybe I could damage the phones!!
