just found this thread... I always "struggle" on Head-Fi when looking for impressions of gear. I mean those impressions are mostly based on "real audiophile music" and when the same folks use terms EDM and electronica I can't relate to shared tracks.

But then again I would use a term like "Classical Music", and when the time comes there will be so many members to learn the nuances from

This is so good you've posted it. Euro dance, Italo dance was a genre...Dance.
I was so surprised when I saw that EDM, and people started calling Techno, House, D&B, Jungle, etc., with that common name EDM.
Dance was and is a genre within electronic music but also more pop music.
I don't know who started and when to call everything EDM...is ridicilous.
I once asked a man, why do you think that D (dance) is right to be there? His answer was, "But you (can) dance to that music."
And I said...hold on, you can't dance on rock, pop music, grunge, punk...really, that's the reason why that D is there???
Let's call then pop (PDM), rock (RDM), grunge (GDM)...damn

There is nothing wrong with Italo and Euro dance.
It brought great things in mainstream and commercial music at the time...
but man...EDM is so wrong to call everything under that name. It's blasphemy to all underground electronic music...

So cheers to all Dance music...but also cheers to EM...without that D inside!
