So you want a more intimate presentation. So the EX600 presentation is too spread out for your liking? I found the EX1000 to have a nice sound stage but it was thin and horizontal. I wanted a more 3D like presentation with more weight to the notes as well as that long horizontal presentation. FX700 gives me that, plus more bass quantity while maintaining the quality. Timbre is second to non.

I don't like having a $350 piece of wood in my back pocket with my keys, I think I'll get the FX500 since it has a more streamlined shape and I think Sonove said it uses the same driver as FX700 right...

Plus... I am opamp rolling and need a source-transparent IEM, at least the Sony EX series is pretty good at that.

Aww no love for Hifiman ? lol either that or the He-6 is really hard to drive, so much so that hifiman made their own EF-6 amp  to pair this headphone ...

It was okay, it just really excelled at nothingness.  Naturally if the HE400 is anywhere near the HE-6 it will be a killer headphone, for nothing-lovers.

I have found a new companion for my bass desires: HA-FX1X

It's not as good as the FXC51, but it gives you tons of bass while still sounding great.

Also are you purchasing an FX500? I'm picky with the V sound signature. The FXC51 works for me, but the TF10 didn't.

The FX700 uses a bigger driver to my knowledge thus the different shape as well. Also the FX700 can go to high volumes without distorting unlike the FX500. But I heard a rumor they fixed this on the newer FX500, not sure though. I don't put my FX700s in my pocket with keys unless I have it in a mini pouch which would protect them. The FX500 is still a great IEM but not as refined as the FX700. I'd look for a used FX700 if I were you. That is the route I went and paid $270.00 with free shipping.

I can afford both, but I think I'd go for the FX500. If the FX500 is 85-95% of the FX700, I'd still be pretty satisfied because what I want is a different sound signature from what I currently use.

Keep in mind when people are making comments regarding percentage of performance. Its a very subjective game. FX500 mid range is very recessed when compared to the FX700. It has more sub bass and less mid bass than FX700. Treble is quite harsh and not refined like the FX700. To me that would be a bigger difference than 10 to 15%

Yes, I'll consider your input, thanks. Do you also have the FXT90?
