Hahaha, why did you cringe, if you don't mind me asking? Honestly, I'm not a fan of its sound either. It just doesn't suit me at all. But I understand that others might enjoy it. In my YouTube review, several people mentioned they love it, even though some of them agreed with some of my critiques. I don't want to offend those who do like it. Preference is ultimately subjective.
I'm not a fan of that sound signature is all LOL Not you're style. You're great. That type of signature is the opposite of the tuning I enjoy. I like sunshine, air, and fluffy clouds! Vampires are not my thing! LOL

Can the X-One variations compete with the OD200?
The Simgot EA500LM and EA1000 can compete with the OD200. Lots can. It's a decent IEM with good stage and excellent timbre, but also TOO.MUCH.BASS. and mid bass bump that can veil the mids. Oh and the fit sucks.

Lol I could probably salvage the bass with a tight source in balanced, am more concerned about uneven treble and that mid treble peak sticking out like a sore thumb. Is that your experience or just bass is the issue with sound?

The treble isn't a problem at all with the silver nozzles. It's a bassy affair with relatively polite treble. Now the black nozzle is soft bass and a shoutfest. I've tried to soften it with foams and narrow bore tips, but that never seems to work.

Carat.jpg

Looking for a single-DD? I just reviewed the $66 JIALAI Carats and it's scary how competent budget DDs are these days. You're invited to read my full review here.

Completely unique. I might go as far as saying it's the most uniquely tuned and sounding IEM in my entire arsenal. But also fun!
Yes, I love my MT300, as you will see from my signature. ST7 going well, I am using the "Spring" type tips, they are really good. I swapped out the cable for the modular one which came with my ST5. I will try it balanced today.
