Been testing the EA500LM for the past couple of weeks.

AND SPOILER ALERT - It is NOT "technically" better than the EA1000. But it's closer to the EA1000 than the EA500. It's smoother than both.

Soundstage, imaging, separation, everything is better on the EA1000.

For low to medium volume listening, the EA1000 sounds better but the spiciness can hit at higher volumes making the EA500LM an easier to use option. But the complaints of higher than needed pinna gain will be there for some individuals. I found the Brass/golden nozzle to be the best as it tames the upper mid range best.

But overall it's an easy upgrade from the EA500! It's cleaner, better res, wider, and smoother in the treble!

Do you have Olina SE to compare with EA500LM?

This $155 Set is probably the best purchase I have made in 2023

PULA PA02
1x 9.8mm DD
2x Knowles 29689 for mids
2d Knowles 31736 for highs

https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0xIhpa 1

If your interested the seller will provide a $25 USD coupon

Incredibly linear and balanced
Neutral with a nice bass punch and fantastic highs .

Working on full review.

Because the frequency response is very flat the overall experience is one where the mids are not your typical forward sounding in your face set. The PA02 sounds more monitor like and more faithful to the source.

One of the most coherent IEM’s I have ever heard.

I really love the Oriveti OH700VB $700 but this set for a fraction of the price with more Mid Bass and extension rocks my world.

Not going to be for everyone who likes in your face upper mids.
But I am certainly enjoying this one.

Any more reviews of this set?
I was thinking about buy it on AliExpress winter sale but Im on a little vacations and forgot that the sale ended yesterday

Alright. Oriolous Szalayi and Cayin RU7. (Not pictured - Eletech Baroque tips size L)
IMG_6383.jpeg
Simple unboxing for both. The Sza box is very small, and somewhat content light. The included ear tips are fine, the cable is REALLY nice, thin and not microphonic. I kind of expected more, maybe an included carrying case, but I have enough anyway.

The aesthetics are MUCH nicer in person than on the product pages, or images. I was worried I wasn’t going to like the blue, but it’s a nice transparent shell and the faceplates are gorgeous. I especially like the bird on the left side.
IMG_6384.jpeg
IMG_6388.jpeg
IMG_6390.jpeg
The specs - the Szalayi is a tribrid. It has a BA for the treble, a 14mm Planar magnetic driver for the mids, and a 10mm DD for the bass. It comes with a 4.4mm balanced 2-pin cable, that is recessed on the shell. It retails for around $900 dollars, but can be found cheaper.

The shells are quite large, but the comfort would tell you otherwise. I usually have a hard with IEMs and my left ear, but these have given me no issues once I found a few tips I like (the baroque, divinus velvet and CORIER Brass tips are my current test subjects on sound).

The sound -
These were praised for their bass capabilities, and it delivers. The bass is beautiful. It’s full, it slams when the music calls for it, the sub bass rumble is HUGE and the most incredible part is, I have yet to find a genre where that bass is sacrificing the mids. The over all timbre leans quite warm. Vocals sound excellent, male more so than female but given the bass here, female vocals are no slouch either. The treble is maybe the only “it’s okay” things I have noticed so far, but it has gotten significantly better after tip rolling. I imagine that a lot of the treble power was sacrificed to empower EVERYTHING ELSE because the only group I cannot imagine enjoying this IEM are treble heads.

I really, really cannot stress how good the bass is on this set. Every note is crystal clear, the mid bass hits when it needs but lets the sub emphasize when it’s supposed to, which I felt was a very big issue for my Neo 5.

The RU7 is very nice. Small, a tad longer than my Q5K. The included case is quality, I’m glad I don’t have to worry about it as much. The OLED screen is bright, the modes are incredibly simple. I need to order some line out cables to test on my desktop amp. I can’t speak to sound as I haven’t tested it on not new IEMs yet, but it powers the Sza well, currently on high gain for some extra oomph.
IMG_6391.jpeg

Other thoughts -
I will be doing a review for the Sza. Once I’m done, I’m going to revisit each of my IEMs and do full write ups/reviews on each, comparing the sets I have in my collection. They are all under the kilo buck range. At SoCal CanJam, I plan on making my first kilobuck purchase (show me those CJ discounts!), so this year will serve as a chance to start putting my audio thoughts into words. @domq422 is doing something similar, and I was waiting for this IEM to begin doing it so hopefully my thoughts assist others in their purchases. My pics will never be as incredible as his tho.

Final initial (?) Szalayi thoughts -
I love the lush bass, the vocals are incredible which seems to be an Oriolus special, it’s non-fatiguing to the point I have to remind myself to take them out. Incredibly musical IEM, which may seem like a cop out term but it truly applies here. I can see myself selling some of my other gear if I continue to feel this way about them.
IMG_6392.jpeg

I ordered both of these from @MusicTeck. Incredible service, I spent the last few weeks anguishing over what to upgrade to and they were nothing but incredible answering my insane questions. The items were shipped out within 3 hours of me ordering them. Just amazing.

I’ll answer whatever questions you have.
Extremely eloquently put, brother, thank you for the detailed impressions on these! The Szas have always been a curiosity for me, a few of my audio buddies have either heard them or owned them, they talk highly on the sound coming out of these bad boys. I appreciate the shout out as well!

@SlhDub
Sony has introduced a few variations of tips with the original (EP-EX11) Hybrid, the clones we are talking about coming out in December 2010 with the Sony EX1000.

There are also ones made of foam and ones that have the foam inside the tips.

The Divinus Velvets I coincidently have on the F1 Pro IEMs as we speak! Strange coincidence. But I did bring out the FUDU and tried the Sony EP-EX11 clones as you asked me to.

The Test:
I noticed that the FUDU nozzle went and opened up the exit port a different diameter. So I showed a photograph of the result of putting them on the FUDU right next to a normal EP-EX11 clone. They do fit on the FUDU and work "OK" in my ears, but really they are a tad too short and the material being exactly like the original EP-EX11 is a way softer than regular ear-tips.......so the end resulting fitment is only so-so at best.

There can be this phenomena where tips are too soft so that they don't push out onto the inner sides of the ear canal. then combine that with slightly too short and the results can be so-so............but that is just my anatomy.

Though keep in mind this has more to do with the FUDU nozzle length and my personal ear anatomy. Though the bore opining change would mean part of the EP-EX11 clone sound would be maybe less bass laden than regularly heard.......maybe? But no-way are the clones loose fitting on the FUDU...........they are almost like glued-on.

yeah thanks for the effort, i got the nicehck ex11 clonnes aswell but they ar a bit too narrow for the fudu, they are better for narrow nozles like the ew200.

Simgot EA500LM Review

Mmmmmmm, will be getting these one way or another. Hopefully it's different enough from the EA1000, otherwise it'll be redundant for my collection

Saying it's technically better than the EA1000 is a bold statement.
I did read one of the comments "the EA1000 is officially dead" Now I have buyers remorse to the max LOL

Received Simgot's newest (and probably the only) dongle: DEW4X. Somewhat confusing names aside, this is a very small dongle, and one of the smallest that I've seen with both SE and balanced outputs.

The sound is on the softer side. Treble has no glare at all, rather it's slightly rounded off. Listened to a few songs paired with the IE 900. Nothing that sounded off or weird.

Size comparison vs some of the other dongles in my collection is also given in the 2nd photo. Colorfly CDA-M1 is also small in size but the weight is absurd for a dongle so it defeats the purpose anyway. DEW4X is both small and light. Great for carrying around connected with a phone or tablet.

Sadly there is no option to switch filters, only changing gain level. I wish Simgot added that option.

No it's nowhere close to the EA1000 when it comes to bass quality and technical aspects. So no remorse!
Whew!!! I was about to say. Thanks for the reassurance. 🙏🏼

That the new EA500LM is better tuned is one thing, but stating that it's better?

I don't doubt it's good, more or less every release Simgot have been stellar. And its small differences making one prefer one over another, for me the EA1000 been the best. But I have not heard the EA500LM yet, should maybe be here next week. If it's as good as claimed it will just take a direct hit against their own higher end product EA1000 😅

I have both the EA1000 and the EA500LM with me (I have had one for a while now, helped Simgot with some feedback regarding the tuning) and the latter is in no way superior to the former. The bass alone showcases the "gap" between the two models. EA1000's bass is significantly faster. Also, the upper-treble has some grain in the LM model, unlike the EA1000.

Is the difference as stark as the >2x increase in MSRP? Likely not. But that's the case with everything, so I think it's more of a moot point.

On Amazon US, there's a Simgot DEW3 also. SE 3.5mm output only. IIRC 80mw max

And you're right about the Colorly's. As much as I love them, they're cumbersome and nowhere near as portable as other dongles.

As of now, I'm really digging the AKLIAM PD4 Plus.

Glad you found a use for them. It’s funny as at the moment I have this clear box and have a pair of EP-EX11 ear-tips inside facing nozzle side up, that are pretty much warn out. I look at them every time I walk by, and I don’t know why I keep them? Lol The rubber center gets over-sized. So I guess I need to put the clones again in action?

Great little teaser and a proper step up from the Neo 5, I'm sure! Enjoy your new companions.

I might have to join the bandwagon of revisiting all my gear, but in a different fashion, since I have written quite a bit about them already. A table of sorts.

"answering my insane questions" ...
but did you ask them the hardest question of them all, How Does It Compare to FX15??
Always enjoy reading your comparisons, absolutely do more.

Free Leo the FX15 legend

i have many more thoughts but im gonna spend some time with them and do a full scored review haha. I hope it’s as detailed as yours have been!
