I was taking a short sabbatical a few years ago from headphones and this guy offered to sell me a pair of GEC 6SA7's for a very reasonable price. I already had a pair, so I turned him down. I regret that decision constantly.
They are some beautiful sounding amps with ZMF headphones but the amp's that is most special to me is Odyssey. It will sound gorgeous with ZMF headphones no doubt. This is an old school amp using amazing sounding Sowter output transformers. It's rich in tube tone but also tuned for extended treble sweetness, fast transients, engaging midrange and mid bass with impact. With Susvara, I've indulged too many hours listening to music.
I am sure it will drive Caldera very well. Likewise all the ZMF dynamic headphones.
Started off as my greenfield project to use EL11 and EL12 spez tubes and built by Tomas of Ultrasonic Studio - Sweden. My amp is shown in the link below. https://ultrasonicstudios.org/odyssey/
Drivers are 6SL7 or a pair Telefunken EL11.
Power tubes are KT88, EL34, 6550, 6L6GC, 807, EL12 spez, EL38, EL39, KT150, KT170, KT66, EL156..... to many to list.
I have a couple tube amps (Woo WA3/OTL; Icon Audio HP8/TC) and of course my VO and Aeolus do well on them both. But my long-time reference for all my headphones is the Violectric V281, still my favorite overall amp. It's also a superb preamp--I use it as the preamp and #1 HP amp in my main desktop system:
I also get a lot of mileage out of the LGX on my planars (my beloved ZMF Ori & Final D8000). And the inexpensive but very nice sounding Cavalli Liquid Carbon v2 sounds great on just about every headphone.
If the Caldera ever finds its way here, it will get serious time on the V281 & LGX, both of which really light up planar headphones.
