On behalf of Team Tokyo (rather, a bunch of Head-Fiers who live in Japan), I want to put my hand up for a loaner pair for the May Fujiya Avic show.

These were made for a show being held in Thailand and they requested for some show attractions. So we put together some 5.0 (worlds first commercially available 5 driver Uni-IEM) (but remaining humble at the same time) and put together a 8.A universal for people to listen to while at the show. (all while still remaining humble of course)

Seriously, when I listened to the Thai 8.A universals the first thought I had was.....

  I built these?

I don't actually have a set of 8.A's for myself, as my ear canals turn very sharp, so my personal choice is universal IEMs. Thus I rarely hear the 8.A, which I built/designed around 3-4 years ago while in Thailand. I even built them without the use of a freq analyzer... just test and re-test, useing my ears. The 8.A was the longest trial and error CIEM I designed, as there were so many parameters to adjust.

That is really hardwork! I never knew that you don't have your personal pair. I really hope that the design you have posted would be available for universals.

Have you guys seen this computerized version of getting an ear impression!?

The Wizard had mentioned it, but no, I hadn't seen this video. Wow. Not just easier and more reliable, then, but better in other ways too! At least, if it works as well as they say.

I have a question for the North American customers. When the UPS guy delivered your phones, what kind of method of payment did he/she require for the custom fees? Cash? Debit? Check? I'd rather pay with my debit card if it is possible at all.

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK check or money order only.

What's the sound difference between the 4.ai and IEM 5.0, thinking of pulling the trigger on the 5.0

Think of the 5.0 like a 4ai with a subwoofer strapped to it, and somehow just a little more clarity and detail as well.

The 4.ai is brilliant, don't get me wrong. There certainly is bass in the 4ai and bass heavy tracks play just fine on the 4.ai.

However, if you need bass that goes THUMP in your ears, bass from an iem that you swear you can feel in your chest, get the 5.0. I don't know how the Wizard did it, but I swear you get some sensations of proper bass impact from the 5.0. That or when I listen to the 5.0 I have heart palpitations to the beat of the music.

The answer to your question should come in the form of what music you like. If you like EDM, Pop, hip-hop, rap, get the 5.0. If you like classical orchestral works you might want to think about the 4.ai...

Unless the Hearing Aid industry accepts this technology, it will not take off. (Ussually this type of technology is actually funded by hearing aid companies to begin with)

Due to the fact the hearing aid industry already relies on SLA equipment, there may be a future for Lantos.

But not much of a future in the CIEM industry, that is unless CIEM companies purchase SLA equipment and first have shells printed and then use the shells to make molds for the Ciems.

The Lantos, in theory would decrease turn around time as this would avoid the shipping of ear mold impressions to the CIEM company.

The trouble with SLA machines for makeing "shells" for CIEMs is that the machines can only print a limited amount of colors. Reportedly they are, red, blue, clear and white. You certainly could not make "gold nugget" CIEMs with SLA equipment.
