I think I saw someone in this thread that unsoldered the socket to solder the Burson.

Here it is:
https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/burson-audio-supreme-sound-opamp-v5i.21562/reviews#review-20737
I’m going to split the box in half along the rails. That way I can still use them. Then I’ll make new front and back covers. The sides I’m going to use some hardwood and make it look like the Colorfly C10. Frankenbox. I’ll just have to extend the pins to the adapter.

Do you think you could buy another same size empty box (without window), cut both boxs like Z2 but making the sides deeper, then use the window from DSD and the back from the other box? Maybe it's difficult to close.
I like your idea with wood on the sides, wood is easy to work.
There's also those plastic sheets imitating wood, that are easy to cut and can be glue on the sides.

Edit:
Looks like it's the same box (?), you could cut it taller and use for the bottom part

Or keep the original and mod these to try how it goes...lot of options :)

Yes, it’s the same box.
I would use anyway for the 4 lateral pannels this kind of material instead of wood: it is plexiglass, you can find it in every color and cut it in any dimension and size. Very easy to wotk with and very rigid. Used it in tons of projects.

I bought some Aluminum boxes from AliExpress. Both are wider, deeper, and longer than the Zishan DSD (or Walnut F1 Amp) chassis.
.
The first is 88mm x 38mm x 110mm - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pc...num-diy-enclosure-case-88-38/32770044953.html
The other is 88mm x 38mm x 120mm - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/88-...-mounting-aluminum-enclosure/32799785917.html
.
I'm planning to use the extra width and depth, to install larger capacitors and op-amps - beside the circuit boards of the DAP or Amp.
The extra space could also allow a larger battery pack to be installed.
The extra length can be cut off, to match the DSD or F1, if you want to continue using the same front & rear external connections on the circuit boards.
The hard part for re-housing the DSD will be cutting the hole, and installing some sort of glass or plastic, to protect the screen.

I just confuse following this long post, correct me if I'm wrong, Zishan DSD AK4497EQ is the best SQ compare to the old version ?
but this AK4497EQ is design for high impedance earphone/headphone ?

it's just confusing, too many versions on aliexpress not to mention the Mod version.
any recommend seller on aliexpress ?

Yeah, the older versions (ak4490/ak4495) sound better with low impedance gear and ak4497 sounds best with high impedance gear, I use the ak4490 for my he4xx and it sounds perfect, but ak4497 is also fun with balanced high impedance buds

If to extend the case on the dsd, so that there would be plenty of space, what caps would you guys put in place of the 2 stock 470mkf? Would 2200mkf give more room to adjust the eq? (Sometimes I want to turn the sub bass up, more then 3 decibels without distortion) but I really don't want to reduce the impedance on it or remove the caps, just give it enough juice to make the eq more useable?would this help with that?

is it possible or anyone done modify the AK4497EQ for Low impedance buds ??

Yes if you search the thread, there are many examples, it's not for amateurs though, and I have understood you need a hot air soldering station.

I picked up 2 versions of the dsd, got the low impedance ak4490 and the high impedance ak4497 version. They both have there advantages, the 4490 has a line out and you change the opamp in lpf and battery last a little longer, the 4497 has balanced out and you change the opamp in gain. Both are awesome, both are worth it, but if you have any high impedance stuff then avoid the 4490

Made some clear acrylic end pieces and new cables, polished the top on the 4490 and the sides on the 4497, now waiting on some parts, plan on cutting the box and adding replaceable batteries, and new bigger IMG_20190123_105142.jpg caps, and possibly extend the leads on the boards so I can fit the v5i in it without removing the dip8 bed

What kind of batteries will you use?
I plan on using 18650 3.7v and want to make it easy to swap out so I can have a couple charged up for those days I forget to charge and need to go. The whole thing should add 18mm to the depth, but I will have 24 mm of free depth when I remove the old batterie, but I will have free room around the batteries for some large caps and possibly re route the opamp for easier rolling
