I'm set on purchasing the HFI 580's however I just noticed that it comes with almost a 10 foot straight cable. I read the Ultrasone DJ1's are the same headphone but with a coiled cable however I like the look of 580s better.

To the owners of the 580 - does the cord get in the way alot with it being so long?

Mine came pre-coiled, so it's pretty easy to fold them. I prefer stuffing straights into my pocket rather than coils. But that's just me.

Yes, I'm with Crincale. Stuffing a coiled cable in my pocket turns into a tangled mess.

Although the straight cord is long, you can simply buy a velcro cable tie from a place like monoprice.com and roll it up to just the length you need. I commute on the train with mine about three times per week, and I don't find it overly cumbersome.
