Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

Thank you for answering, seems like it's going to be one of those I have to try out to see if I find them too sweaty or not for me. It being forgiving of oils and moisture may help. Luckily with the HD 5xx style frame the comfort shouldn't be a problem. How's the clamp compared to the HD 560S?
The extra earpadding (and its density, which is softer than the velour pads) and metal band (more malleable than the composite one in the 560S) make it a lighter lateral touch. I never found the 560S clampy, however I can certainly feel the difference.
Do you mean it’s neutral - bright signature?
I would say brighter, but not sibilant or even crispy, IMHO. We're excited to get it out in the community to get some peer impressions on a wider variety of gear.

Intresting! When you say brighter, do you mean brighter than 600 or 650?

Okay, never found the HD 560S too clampy either, but a bit less clamp will definitely make them more comfortable. Looking forward to trying the HD 620S out sometime.

Yes, more bite and clarity, specifically. We used "unveiled" as a tip of the hat to the word that has followed the 600/650 around in the forums, for better or worse

The headphone still retains a balanced approach, but cranks up the fun factor without getting the police called on them :)

In the middle of my review of the new iFi ZEN DAC V3 (fed by NAA through the iFi ZEN STREAM via HQPLAYER on my just finished today purpose build PC just for Roon and Hqplayer, so I am totally maxing out the quality of the ZEN DAC) via my trusty H650s (on my third pair now) BUT.... it sounds anything but veiled. I don't really get the whole veiled thing at all. People really think these sound veiled?

Yeah, well I know they do when listened to right after a pair of ahem, 'non-veiled' brighter headphones... but is that an accurate representation?? And the ears/brain ALWAYS will adjust after a small period of time, which is why reviewing is such a pain in the ass.

Anyway, sorry about the tangent. Carry on talking about this intriguing product that has moved up to the top of my interest list.

New cheaper closed backs from Sennheiser and Focal in the same week? Woohoo!

As soon as these are available in China they will pretty much be an insta-buy for me, so few options around in this price range.

I know this is a bit off topic but if the 600s got an update should we expect an update on the 800s series as well?

More importantly, now that we have Immanis, Sennheiser should try to keep up and release a stand alone He1

What would be your type of closed back? Perhaps I can provide clarity.
With those specs, I’m curious about how they scale down in terms of power for portability, and how they scale up in terms of amplification quality. Beyond that, I’m just eager to read or hear other folks’ listening impressions….

Nice to see Sennheiser coming out with new models but honestly, it looks like it should be in the 500 line, not the 600 line.
