Hello,
I currently own some AKG K240S cans but am looking into upgrading to some Sennheiser HD650's when I get the money. However, before I invest in some new headphones, I want to try out my current ones with a dedicated amp. Are there any amps that would pair well with both the AKGs and the Sennheisers? My budget is around $200. The soundcard on my laptop isn't too great, so an amp that includes a DAC would be great.
I am building a "Starving Student Amp" with 12AU7 tubes, and I will use this with my AKG's, but I would be reluctant to use the Sennheisers with it because of risk of damage. If I built in a protection circuit, would the amp be adequate to drive HD650's?
Sorry if I left out any information, and thanks for your help in advance.
