Miles Davis - Kind of Blue.png

A little light jazz music for today, nicely remastered to 24/192. These albums
were released respectively in 1958, 1960 and 1959.

Edit: Had some extra time, so queued up this album from 1961:

Yummy. Mr. Bill Evans on the keys.

HD800 = :)

Listening to this Miles Davis Kind of Blue through my new Sennheiser HD800S headphones sounds far better than with my old Sennheiser HD700 phones. So much more micro detail and dimension. And this is through my Teac UD-503 DAC with its underwhelming headphone amp. Looking to get a new headphone amp soon.

Enjoy discovering your music all over again with the HD800S. A big upgrade from the HD700. Good luck shopping for a new amplifier. I know the original HD800 are very amp-picky, and they scale like a beast with the amp (with a wimpy amp, they sound shrill and tinny). I suspect the HD800S suffer a similar problem, but once you get amped-up, they will be even more superb. There's probably an HD800S appreciation thread here on Head-Fi where the owners discuss which amps work well ... happy hunting and listening.

Edit: there is an HD800S appreciation thread ... here it is: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sen...ns-thread-read-first-post-for-summary.795365/

Yes, I am enjoying them very much. Far better than the HD700.

I already know what headphone amp I'm getting; I just need to wait for the Chinese New Year to end (19 Feb) before I can order. It'll be the Denafrips Artemis HPA from Vinshine Audio in China. Unfortunately, they aren't processing orders until after the New Year.

If you haven't placed an order yet, you should check out the Schiit Mjolnir 3. It has slightly more power in balanced (not single ended) than the Artemis into 300 ohms. And it's fully balanced as well. It's on my wish list
