Far too long since I’ve listened to Plaid… I’ll be going through all of their albums this week!

A flight of stairs is like swimming the Atlantic
when you're poisoned, deaf, dumb and blind,
when you're poisoned, deaf, dumb and blind,
When Ged hits that "man!" vocal live...
From my first Rush tour:
And my last:
^ AF Gold Disc with that nice DR of 16!
^ I now have 6 versions of this classic: the original Japanese first press cd, a HDCD remaster, the DCC "gold" disc, a MQA HDCD, a 2021 vinyl remaster, and now the MFSL SACD. IMO the original first press CD sounds good, if kind of flat, the HDCD and MQA versions are unnecessarily loud/in your face (decreased sound stage), the DCC is very good with a "softer" presentation, and it's a toss up for my favorite 2 versions: the MFSL SACD and the 2021 vinyl remaster. The MFSL is clearer while still a bit "warm"; the vinyl has more depth to the stage (as I find common with vinyl), but is less clear. The differences between all of these, save the HDCD and MQA, are subtle; which one you might prefer will depend on your tastes, setup, etc. I do think the new 2024 MFSL SACD will be my go-to for awhile.
