Hi my former can aiaiai Tma-1 head band has snaped but still holds, now I am planning for a replacement, I am looking for some thing more open for acoustics & classical & some pop, my current interest are in such order Sony MDR-7506, Audio Thecnica ATH-A700x & AKG K240 MKII. I would like to know which of these have the strongest bass & which of these have the most air ? I like music like, The best of Sixpence None The Richer, Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5, 'Turkish' Flute and Harp Concerto, Paul Van Dyk - Evolution & armada trance 16.

Ok So more or less 250 dollars USD. IS there a reason why you only named closed headphones?

The K240 series is not really a closed headphone.  Semi-closed maybe, so it will leak sound in and out... but the flip side is it has a bigger more open soundstage than the Sony V6 or 7506.  Based on sonics alone, the K240 mkII would be my recommendation.  Good bass response, impact and extension... and the sense of "air" you are looking for.  Really good sounding headphone for the $$.  A more affordable option though is the older K240s, 55 ohm model.  Same sonics, just packaged a little differently... without the extra cable that comes with the MKII

Amazon has the K240s for $65 right now... thats going to be hard to beat for classical music.  IMHO.

For WELL under $250 US you couldpair that with a Schitt magni and have a really good sounding affordable desktop rig.

Audio Technica AD series don't require an amp and if you have a fairly good source you shoukd be fine with A900X for under 200 dollars. I have both AD900 and K240 and the K240 sounds very weak compared to the AD, it is not even a fair matchup to be realistic. If you don't consider getting an amp, it will be hard to give other recommendations as many headphones will be a bit overkill from a regular source without amplification, but the Audio-Technica do well.

Mmmmh I believe you'll soon be looking for an upgrade as these are entry level cans. Yeah they are cheap at around 60 dollars but you won't get much. A900x would give you a lot more for your money.

I would recommend Sennheisers for classical however since you listen to pop I don't think they would be a good choice. Audio Technica's headphones are generally well balanced for listening to any music genre.

I haven't tried the A900X's but my first ever headphones that introduced me to this whole audiophile scene was the A700X's, they were well balanced, airy and the bass was tight but quite soft. At around 150$ AUD they were well worth the price but hey, if you can get the A900X for under 200$ I think that's a bargain since it costs around 250$ in AUS.

Don't forget to factor in the exchange rate. 190 USD = 235 Singapore dollars

Edit: Does Amazon US ship headphones to Singapore? if not you could always buy the A900X from Amazon Japan and use a forwarding service like Tenso and it will cost you around 17090 Yen which is 213 Singapore dollars Incl. shipping
