Hello everyone!
I'm a beginner in the audiophile world and have just begun using the HD 555's I bought a few years ago. I was originally not impressed with the sound although I discovered that was due to the horrible onboard sound from my computer. My iPhone 4S drives these headphones better than my onboard sound does.
Anyway, I've just bought a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card to improve the sound coming from my computer. I'm hoping it will drive my HD 555's a bit better. Will have to test it out when I get home later today. I know when I was searching around that there are two versions of the HD 555's, one with 120 ohm impedance and another with 50 ohm impedance and I was wondering if anyone knew how to tell which ones I have. I bought my headphones refurbished so they could have been built much earlier than when I bought them.
If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it very much! On a side note, I'm also looking for a good portable amp for under $100 if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!
