Who bought these?

I am surprised at how the HP2 are so readily available on ebay compared to other vintage headphones. There are always a pair or two for sale- not counting the 5000 pound pair, they will be on the list forever.

I think the combined number is 1000. I don't know how many of them are HP1s but they don't seem to appear nearly as frequently as HP2 and we never see HP3.
I am also wondering how many SR200 they made. You would have thought being a "budget" model, they were mass produced and yet they are much rarer than HP2 or even HP1.
Why do HP2 get more expensive at this moment is another mystery to me- they have always been the same (good) but why the sudden jump in value?

I don't think that many people looked at the thread, but the fact that they measured as one of the best headphones ever in Purrin's CSD plots couldn't have helped anything.

I reckon Purrin now has the magic wand that can influence used market price of any headphones.

Is this a new high price point for HP1 (and any HP1000)?
Joe did say that he sold a pair to the Pope for around $3500.

That guy was awesome.  But pcf is keeping the spirit alive.

Awesome you say? He came, hunted, tracked, and found every possible vintage Grado headphone, and Grado speakers. He recabled some, but didn't keep any. They were all sold on the for sale forum, and sometimes for a lot more than what he himself paid (you get to pay less if you're willing to search more, he did that and found a HP2 locally for almost nothing, and sold it for full price), and left the place. He was a great merchanter, asking high prices, bumping every day of the month if required, and slowly lowering down his price. He complained a bit here and there about a guy named waddragon, or lobster_king, sometimes lucky_star, and BFBaudio, who was doing exactly what he used to be doing, flipping headphones and making profit... the only difference is that he was genuinely desiring a bought headphone, until he changed his mind and sold it. And he had never had any bad intentions... but he did roll all those Grados.

I'm now here to keep the spirit alive also, in my own interest because I am a headphone keeper myself... but none of the threads I've bumped caught people's attention. What Rhydon said there http://www.head-fi.org/t/122338/hp-2-hp-3-owners-poll/15#post_1438147 mostly happened, but their value is still going up strangely. Might be because everyone wants to secure a pair before they are gone forever, in the hands of collectors, like me.

(my first effort to keeping the spirit alive: http://www.head-fi.org/t/191338/grado-hp-2-review/60#post_8195611 and it was followed by many others, even thought it's not always apparent

Haha, this is amazing! Wait was he joking?

I did try to reach this seller http://moviles.casinuevo.net/grado-hp1000-hp2-jose-grado-firma-del-profesional-de-refer_espana_120116164832

But only did so after he had uploaded his pair to eBay... actually I just realized he was the one asking 5000 GBP for it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item3f0fc1175a&item=270847252314&nma=true&pt=UK_AudioVisualElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Headphones&rt=nc&si=jVvi3ID36cmBwVWPpi%252FnK%252F1lMbQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_500wt_1361 So he still is in possession of his mint pair, possibly.

Me and Nerox spotted a PS1000 on eBay Australia that got won for 180 EUR. (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220991303963&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en&clk_rvr_id=332749111656)

There's this amazing site called headphonetwo.com, I have no idea who it got into existence and why it is forwarding almost every Grado being sold on eBay.
