I am a passiv reader since almost 3 years in head-fi. Cannot find a better forum and you helped me a lot on my search about earbuds, IEM and cans.
Thanks to all review writers!

Now I have a problem and cannot come even close to a solution.

Two years before on holiday, I visited B&H and bought a Westone UM1, Shure 215, Etymotic hf5 and UE 700. My girlfriend gets some ATH-M50.
I like the sound of the UM1 most and return the others. Back home and some time later I am satisfied with the UM1 on my Ipod 5g until I listen more to the ATH-M50.
The sound signature is absolutely fascinating!
My journey begun and soon after some Sennheiser I bought the Westone W4 to beat the ATH-M50. It needs some time to accept the W4 sound signature cause they sound much darker than the Etys, UM1 or M50.

But the guys on headfi are right - W4 are very good! But not bright and not as upfront as M50 and the mids are not well present. But overall they are much more thight and detailed then M50. In comparision UM1 to W4 treble is now piercing and bass is lacking.
W4 sounds more grown up but less fun!
M50 - not authentic and hifi - but fun!

During this time I tried to find an upgrate to M50 and my first own cans.

Today, once more after a visiting to another expensive hifi dealer I listen Grado 325i and Bayerdynamic´s T5p.
They are both great headphones and much better in details and clearity than the M50 - but where is the deep bass? The fun? And they are not as loud as M50 on Ipod...

The best what I have in memory from B&H are Pioneer´s HDJ 1500.

I can´t recall all but the most common headphones I (or still want) listened to:
Denon - all open
D2000 - open
D7000 - open
AKG
K/Q 701 - cleared (to quietly)
Sennheiser
Momentum - cleared (great! no deep bass)
Amperior - cleared
HD 25-1 II - open
HD 650 - cleared
HD 598 - cleared
HD 558 - cleared
HD 518 - cleared
HD 428 - cleared
Beyerdynamic
T5p - cleared (great! too analytical)
T50p - open
DT 1350 - open
DT 440 - open
DT990/80 - open
Audio Technica - all open
B&W
P5 - cleared
Grado
325i - cleared (great treble! no deep bass impact)
Beats
Beats pro - cleared
Beats solo - cleared
Bose QC15 - open
Hifiman - all open

I want headphones for home using, which can driven verly, very loud on Ipod like M50 or W4. Also, I cannot accepted less bass body then those pair.
Is there a more detailed, with more mids and treble clearity headphone out there - but with the same unbeliveable upfront aggresive sound signature like M50?

I found many "hifi" heafphones out there. And I know exactly what I am missing on M50. I guess, I need some closed cans.
Hifimanm Audio Technica, Bayerdynamic and Denon are difficult to get a listening hour to them in my area.

My preferences:
- easy to drive from Ipod
- very loud
- upfront V- signature like M50

Any idea, which I can add/clear on my list?

Good proposal, seems they are all (without HFI-780) loud enough by driven from Ipod.

Shure SRH-440 is 44 Ohm / 105db .
Ultrasone HFI 580 is 32 Ohm / 101db
Ultrasone HFI-780 is 35 Ohm / 96db

Nearly the same as M50 with 38 Ohm /99 db.
Can you compare their sound signature to M50?

If you're looking for aggressive mids, then I would strike DT990s off the list. It's definitely a fun phone and bassy but the mids are recessed and probably way too laidback for what you're looking for. If you don't mind on-ears, I'd give the V-moda M80s a try. Great mids, bassy and easy to drive straight from source, no amping needed even if you have one.

Crinacle do a review between M50 and 580.
HFI-580 seems to have a better sound quality, what I prefer, but Vocals " sound somewhat metallic and lifeless, and slightly thin too.".
Did you make the same experience?

V-Moda?
V-Moda V-80 28,5 Ohm / 105db
V-Moda M-80 28,5 Ohm / 105db
V-Moda M-100 32 Ohm / 103db
Beyerdynamic T50p 32 Ohm / 107db

Loud enough!

Today demo again Momentum, 1R, Fidelio X1 and K551dj.
All so far away from M50 sound.

I press the button to a freshly boxed D7100.
Can´t get them demo around me. Hope that was wise...

Will be here approx 14 days.

End of this month I am able to buy another pair Denon (D600 for comparision and selling). When D7100 not perform a bit better than D600, it goes to market again.
This forum sucks my money out of me!

I get my D7100 today and listen nearly 3h since then.
They worked as loud as M50 on mobile device (5g). This is much louder as many of you can bear. For me, it is just fantastic to have some db left.

Above you can see my journey through headphone world. Nothing come close to the sound signature of M50. I found my M50 upgrade.

Pro:
Work well on mobile devices.
Same bass impact.
More treble.
Much more mids.
Transparent and much more detailed.
Very comfy.

Con:
Expensive.

Unfortunately, I cannot compare D7100 to D600. After reading some reviews, I am sure D600 is the less pricy upgrade to M50.
