ZMF Caldera Closed
Anyone running their CC meshless? I've been going back and forth between the CO and CC tonight and the one thing that really stands out to me is the added clarity of the CO. Comparing on the same system with same cable, just swapping headphones. The CO is a touch more efficient, or less...- erics75

Sorry missed the cc vs co for metal question. Not in depth. I really need to get them side by side more. Right now I listen all day to the cc at work then switch to the co after work, with limited side by side time. As of right now I prefer the co overall to the cc, but the cc is still breaking...- erics75

They’re very different to me. I actually was comparing them at work today and was really surprised how different they are. The AC is about warmth and fullness. The CC is more about technical’ prowess and clarity. Very complimentary sets imo.- erics75

It’s all about preference. I find the CC thin in comparison to the AC and that takes away some of the power of metal for me. I do love the sound of guitars with the CC though. And I’m very mood based so I’ll seek speed and precision one day then warmth and thickness the other. Nice track! Love...- erics75

Anyone try the Auteur solid suede pads on the CC? I'm about an hour into it and honestly i'm really enjoying them! Being suede they temper the fast transients and treble a bit, but also have a nice even tonality and soundstage. A bit less engaging than the Caldera thick pads I was using before...- erics75

DNA Stratus 2A3 amplifier - first impressions
as bigjako said, the Psvane Acme are excellent. I got them used in the classifieds for super cheap for a pair. i also love some NOS RCA as well. A bit more vivid and dynamic vs the Acme. Got to demo the legendary Takatsuki for a few hours and that left me craving a pair, though that's most...- erics75

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!
I love the Bokeh pads on the AC. They're very very similar to the stock Caldera lamb pads but have a bit snappier transients and attack. That's the biggest difference, it seems to add just a touch more speed and impact.- erics75

Today is going to be a fun day, I brought my beloved AC in with the CC for a little battle royal.... I've been itching to face these two off since the CC's arrival. The CC is still burning in so i'm not going to make any definitive judgements yet, but I am curious how they stack up now as is...- erics75

I was going to google an image for that one but thought "maybe not at work" ;) After this and the inevitable buy of the CC demo I have, i'm in serious need of a cash influx. Time to sell off some unused stuff. So how many will be joining me in the classifieds sell off soon?- erics75

ZMF Spring Limiteds, CanJam NYC and Estimated Release Schedule for Caldera Closed and BOKEH Open!
go with the more aesthetically pleasing wood, don't worry about sound as much. the sonic differences aren't huge between woods, you'll get more noticeable differences pad rolling and tweaking your dac/amp, especially if the amp is the tube variety  EDIT - In general the softer less dense...- erics75

Woo! Count me in, ordered! Anyone get the upgraded tubes? I'm going stock to start to get to know the amp, then i'll roll as funds permit. and given the price that might be awhile hahaha. But haven't been this excited about an amp since the Stratus!- erics75

IMO the stock red mesh and Caldera thick pads give the smoothest and bassiest response. The stock hybrid pads are smoother but a bit less bassy. The protein pads are the absolute bassist but are a bit more aggressive, so you sacrifice smoothness. I personally have gravitated to the thick pads...- erics75

One thing that has me really excited for the Aegis is all the varying sound possibilities with the 3 impedance settings plus the balanced and unbalanced output. Should make fine tuning to taste easier than other more fixed amps. Those I'd have to tube roll or accept the sound as is.- erics75

The CC continues to burn in and the treble seems to be most affected, in a good way. It's mellowing out a bit, not quite as sharp and biting as it was out of the box. Still has that strong planar treble presentation, but it's just a touch more relaxed now. I really love the mids on the CC. The...- erics75

Wow that's quite a bass lift over the S2 until 200hz! I find the S2 quite bassy in general, not sure I'd want more, though i'll have to hear it in case it works. But woo that subbass looks quite strong.- erics75

I'm confident i speak for 100% of the market in saying we want to be a distraction, give us bling! :) All joking aside thanks for the great response. It's good to see vendors interacting with the users. I have no doubt driver choice/tuning is incredibly challenging. I just love those S2...- erics75
