My DIY electrostatic headphones
anto22: You should try to build standard e-stat headphones first so you will know what this is about. Than you maybe recognize that the wireless e-stat is no-go. The main thing is that e-stats must be open back design otherwise it doesn't work well. My suggestion is to build standard headphones...- Ulfar4

I believe that you must use Eagle from Fusion360 licence. Or it is merged into one program now? You can find lot of guides on Youtube. Free alternative is KiCad, you can do it in every PCB layout program, but it can be sometimes tricky to use it for designing stators and spacers.- Ulfar4

mattmatt: FR-4 is from JLCpcb. Mylar is 3um from ebay, but it is few years back I bought it. As for the stretching, I am doing it by hands on flat glass with tape. chinsettawong: Aliexpress sometimes have weird behavior. Anyway, for others or when the link will be dead:- Ulfar4

My DIY electrostatic headphones
After long time I made new E-stats, this time with oval shape. The dimmensions of the cup are 110x90mm. Active area of the diaphragm is 75x55mm. Stators are FR-4 as always, this time 0.6mm thick with ENIG surface. Spacers are also 0.6mm. I tried some graphene nanoparticles treatment for cars...- Ulfar4

Yet Another DIY Isodynamic (Planar Magnetic) Headphones
It is open back design. There is comparison with DT770. After all, it was a bit too much with that filter. So I was still working and trying to lower the treble because it was very tiring for longer listening. Small update after some time. Headphones was sent to few people to get some...- Ulfar4

Yet Another DIY Isodynamic (Planar Magnetic) Headphones
Hi All, I have been working on this headphones for some time and I want to share some results. I want to clear from start that I won't give away everything that I learned, mainly not revealing the process of the membrane creating. Although it can be guessed from photos. It just cost me too much...- Ulfar4

LYRE | The DIY Planar Magnetic Headphone Project
If it is open back design, then the material of housing will not alter the sound, choose any material which suits you. About how far with the driver, it mainly depends on earpads, generally I would say that deep ear pads will give you better bass, but as the cavity in pad is increasing, it can...- Ulfar4

LYRE | The DIY Planar Magnetic Headphone Project
From my experiences I can only advise to you, that you should not focus on such things like materials for housing and ear distance from start. Personally I would try to focus on driver itself, since it is not so easy to create it. When you will have working driver, then you can build some...- Ulfar4

My DIY electrostatic headphones
Does anyone have tip where to buy good earpads? I am looking for oval angled sheepskin earpads but I had no luck with finding any. Round types are easy obtainable, but the situation is much worse with oval ones with bigger dimensions.- Ulfar4
