I'm a fan of I.Q and the other "mainstream" bands you mentioned. You might like Marillion, Camel, Nektar, and Spock's Beard. Some of those bands aren't too new though. Edit: Forgot to mention Kayak

It's a bit easier to find boondocking spots in the US, with lots of free locations on BLM and Forest Service land, at least in the western US. I know what you mean about 24/7 w/the spouse. The wife and I lasted about four years in our RV before we got his and hers RVs. :)
