I lived in TX for a few years and married a nice lady born & raised in SE TX. Yeah, Ropers and a Stetson are kind of expected if want to play the part.
Although I like to razz cowboy-posers after growing up farming and raising cattle in FL in my youth. I'll ask if they know what's it all about or just "All hat, no cattle."

I plan on flying Southwest Airlines. I plan to bring with me a pair of headphones that will be secured in a Pelican hard case. Along with my backpack, will Southwest allow me to carry on the Pelican hard case as well? I haven't flown in years.

Southwest allows 1 free checked bag and 1 carry on and 1 personal item so you should be fine .
