That would definitely hit the spot haha.   Perhaps they'll try a 480J ?

from things I've heard they seem to think their mid tier (400s, 400i, 560) is as full as it can be right now, and that if they add anything to it, it would just dilute sales from those three models.  It's why we've recently seen them focus on the extreme high end (shangri-la) and low end (HE350 and RE00).

Well I did mean it more as a joke haha.  But yes I do see where you are coming from.  Could always hope for a revoicing I suppose.

So whats the cheapest cable around the the he400i?  One of the 2.5mm connectors got all jacked up on mine, not really sure how.  Im thinking this:

That looks like the plugs are 2-pole whereas the He-400i one are 3-pole

I'm. Also interested in some after marker cables... Nothing crazy but th stock ones look soooo cheap and worthless....

What mods should I do... What can I do to make this headphones even better

Try ebay seller Venus Audio, decent cables at a great price.

As for mods, many do the grill mod but on the newer version without the back plate it might not be needed.  You can also try the sorbothane mod inside the cups.

Guys what amp/dac you suggest at the beginning of my journey with HE400i?
Headphones were not that cheap so can you recommend me something at a reasonable price ("starter packet")?
It would be nice if amp was with builtin dac.

Thanks in advance.

What is the range that you reasonably can/will spend? Do you want to stay under $100, under $200?

If you are at the 200 dollar price range, the O2 amp/dac is a solid choice. Or Schiit Magni2+modi2 stack.

~200$ (maybe ~250$, depends on whether it will be worth it)

So my possibilities are:
O2 amp/dac
Schiit Magni2+modi2

What do you think about Aune X1S? Will it be better than above?
And do you have good source for buying O2 combo?

Source for buying the O2, you mean Amazon or buy directly from jdslabs?
