I converted most of even my ALAC to FLAC but I still have plenty and it works fine. I never had a problem that I can remember. I had some with the DX100 but that was corrected.

But why did you convert it ? Do you think FLAC is better ? For me, as a Mac user, it would be perfect because then I just transfer my music folder to the sd card..

There was something, a dap, don't remember which one, that wouldn't play ALAC but now does. I have a MAC also. So I still have a lot in ALAC.

That's so good to know because this was my biggest concern while ordering. I will report back when the HM-901 arrives. I have ALAC in all resolutions, from 44.1 to 192.0 .

On the higher resolutions I have them in FLAC, because I play everything on the DAPs and not on the computer. So when downloading, I just choose FLAC as most all player can access this but in the past some had problems with ALAC and the Highsoundaudio Anv 3 still does so I use FLAC or WAV on it. So on the hi res stuff what I would do, and it is quick, just convert it to FLAC if there is a problem. I use Music converter Pro. Fast and simple.

The MD5 checksum of the original file posted from the Chinese site is different than the one currenlty posted on Hifiman.com.

That one worked for me without any issue. Now to test CUE sheet support.

CUE sheet support is royally broken. Now instead of looping forever, it hard hangs. Sigh.

Finally, you now have real circular menus (if you are on the top, just rotate up and you are now on the bottom of the list....this was driving me crazy).

There is a beta version of 1.084 on the Chinese forums that could cause a lot of problem (they accidentally leaked a 1.084 with extra bit that is supposed to work with the upcoming dock, but it is buggy). Just get the official 1.084 from Hifiman if you can't be sure as the official 1.084 should be much more stable.

It is. CUE support is still broke though.

But other than that the upgrade worked fine.

Guys, I have a problem with extracting DFF files from ISO file. Not sure if you guys have experienced the same...I have an ISO that is dual layer which contains both stereo and 5.1 tracks, so I use the sacd_extract program to extract...Command used:

sacd_extract -2 -p -i"SACD.iso

But the exported DFF files wont play on HM-901, any tips?

Also, is it normal to hear more hiss when playing DFF?

I don't think you have done anything wrong, it's just that DSD support on the 901 is very immature.. I encountered the exact problems and simply gave up.
