Ah you had this problem too! They are shipping me the new battery on Monday. Fang is tops in customer service (always has been, he supported my 801 as well).

Yes you can use the 901 as a DAC/amp combo . Just use the supplied cable and turn on the SPDIF-in function.
Never tried 24/192 but I suppose it should work,

You can take a USB to S/PDIF-COAX converter and use it on the go.. USB -> S/PDIF-COAX -> HM-901

On the docking station, Fang has stated he is looking for March as a launch date. I imagine it will vary around that month give or take. I have received a couple of emails asking me if I know when it will be released.

It would be great if both the HM 802 and the docking station is released at the same time. Together with the interchangeable amp cards, the ecosystem will be complete.

what about the alac support at the moment including high-res alac material. I searched through the thread and there were only 2 or 3 comments about it claiming that it runs on "chipmunk" speed on certain tracks. How are your experiences with playing alac on the newest firmware ? My AK120 plays them without having any issues. I ordered the HM-901 and not playing alac correctly would be a dealbreaker for me.

I converted most of even my ALAC to FLAC but I still have plenty and it works fine. I never had a problem that I can remember. I had some with the DX100 but that was corrected.
