iFi audio ZEN Blue - The Official Thread

Hi there, I have a question. I have both Zen Blue and Zen Blue v2. At first both device were displaying white LED which indicates HWA codec is in use. But lately, the v2 machine is displaying yellow LED. When I tried using similar setup to Zen Blue v1, the LED was white. Can anyone please assist me?
I am using Huawei P30 Pro and stream the music from Spotify online.

Thank you

Can you open a support ticket here with us?

@samuelbass it might be quicker to raise the issue with an ifi support ticket, ime. They are quite responsive.

Thank you!

Is it just me or is the zen blue missing a key piece of functionality; an on or off switch??

I guess it's not that big of a deal, but for me it's annoying because
  • The lights are really big and bright and I don't want scorched retinas
  • My yggy's muting relay clicks when it connects/disconnects from any source, so everytime I walk in or out of range of the zen blue my DAC starts clicking and blinking
  • I want my phone to connect to whatever Bluetooth audio device I'm currently using, but it's always set to the zen blue because it's always on
Other than that, it does seem like it's impossibly good value for money, so big thumbs up until I find something without these issues.

Been addressed before, no it’s not “missing a key piece of functionality“, but if you must have…tape over the light of it bothers you and always, on, is best for digital equipment. But I do believe the new Zen Blue 2 does have the functionality you deserve? But at a price, thanks.

Answering the first issue, the last software I upgraded to, turns the lights off after a few seconds.

Unfortunately the iFi Stream does not support sacd iso (containers). So I will have to look for another streaming device. Will I be able to stream sacd iso files with multicast from a Samsung Galaxy A50 (Bluetooth 5 with LDAC) to the Zen Blue? What will be the pcm quality?

990kbs 24/96, I had a zen blue for a while and it was very good for Bluetooth. Even though the bitrate is capped hires files still sounded good.

Yes, the iFi Zen Stream with the android Stream app

Understood. Even if it doesn't do it now, I'll ask internally whether ZEN Stream will be able to play DSD packed into ISO files in the future.

Although it's not possible at the moment, our R&D will take a look into that!

AFAIK that's a no.
Well then time to add Amazon HD, it‘s a selfish request for myself and likely many others. And secondly, a big game changer would be I2S output. Stay under $399 and you harken back to the glory days of your first very affordable Zen products that put the audio world in a tail spin.
