iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane

Not really being negative. Just imagine the marketing team getting ulcers as they try to juice the engineers into trying to “move this along!”

On that note, agreed to send in ZS for “refresher treatment” last week and waiting for instructions. Need to know where what to send and what to include. Sent a reminder note yesterday but no word as yet. Any ideas?

Thanks!
I would give them another 24 hours, and if no word (be sure to check your ticket for updates) shoot me a PM with your ticket number and I will see if I can push on it a bit!

Cheers!!

Someone posted today in the Roon Forum that Tidal is sending emails announcing that it will merge both tiers into one single service for the price of Tidal Hifi. just named Tidal. I haven't received this email myself (I live in Brazil and subscribe to Tidal hifi) so I don't know if this is for real and everywhere.
I received such an email.
The merging of tiers is all well and good, but they make it sound like the Family Plan is being discontinued as well, and that is not so fine ...

That is weird wording, I wonder if they mean "family" will be 16.99 (more in line with other services). Individual will be 10.99 undercutting Qobuz by a bit.

Guess we will see!

I got one as well.

The price point below Qobuz suggests perhaps trying to retain customers as well.
MQA debacle.

If Qobuz Connect can just make a big splash!!
At this point, I am beginning to think if Spotify came out next week and said Spotify HiFi is finally here, 20-25 for our family plan and includes CD quality lossless I may be done searching until everyone else comes close...:L3000::L3000::L3000:

Cheers!!

Instead spotify starting a lawsuit against Apple, every customer should start one against spotify for working against quality already for years 😁. The only reason hifi is not there yet because they can’t find a way to charge us 30$ a month for it.

I have spotify for conveniance, gym and in the car, but that is the only place. For real music I use qobuz (used Tidal as well). Only thing of them both compared to spotify, the database is smaller and missing albums.

Such a shame spotify sucks so bad, not in more than one occassion a comparable album sounds even better in mp3 than it does on spotify, they really use some crappy compression.

I use Spotify regularly, as I also have a family plan. You are correct the quality is just not up to the other services, but as you said in the car, and especially in my Bar it just doesn't matter as much, it's passable and easy for everyone to use. For me it's more the wealth of content, playlists they create, and the fact that it is extremely reliable.

Now I also have Qobuz, and Roon which I use for my "real" listening they are superior in that environment.

As I have said previously here I think my Zen Stream does the best job at making Spotify sound just a bit better, others have also said this. So I would be very very curious if Spotify were to finally add a CD quality option how it would go down in comparison to the other services, would it be worth it? Or would my wallet finally get a break in all this,:sweat_smile:

Cheers!!

Very interesting.

I have a Tacoma truck with a low gain AUX input. I tried the Apple Dongles (camera with and without power inputs) with audioquest black DACs. The set-up still required maximum output since iPhone limits output to save battery.
Also when I left the dongle connectors in the truck the heat expanded the connectors and they stopped working.

I got the IFI-Hip DAC 2 which produces the power easily and allows enhancements of the signal in the truck environment.

With Tidal Connect it sounded very good but Qobuz works also (?-stream cached?-40 minutes and recommendations running?) and it sounds even better particularly with detail retrieval.

Only trouble is while listening to music almost driving off the road and dog wants to know why I am sitting in truck (singing) while running in front of the house.

Best!

Can someone share (maybe ifi representatives) what is the LAN cable (manufacturer/model) supplied in the box with the ZS? I'm looking to buy a couple of meters of that exact same one.
I will try and find out if that specific cable is available in longer lengths for you and post back if I get positive results.

In the meantime here is a screenshot and a link for you to find a cable I bought years ago in longer lengths for exactly this reason.

This is USB right? I'm asking for LAN (ethernet)!
I don't need the USB cable. I want to use LAN for the long run.

I am sorry I completely misread your post, my bad!

For that any LAN cable you choose will work fine Cat 5 and up I believe. There has been discussion on other threads about which version is best for different applications. This will ultimately be determined by your ears but as an example, I use Cat 7 to good effect, solid signal, etc.

Perhaps other Zen users can chime in about what they feel is the best.

Cheers!!

Better get another Coffee before I answer anymore questions, lol
