[KA3/KA13] FIIO X JADEAUDIO USB DAC DONGLE
- Thread starter FiiO

I do not know specificallyfor the ka13 but all my dongles (including dc06) they consume almost the same power when they are idle (in comparison when they play music ). So if i go for sleep and just leave them plugged in next to me the next morning the battery on my phone is empty. Not sure why this is happening with almost all dongles.

Some dongles have a power-saving feature, but alas, not many.

Only my apple and Samsung adapters do not use power in my case. Or little power. I can leave them overnight.

as on the Fiio website for the KA13 / parameters the declarations for output power seem mixed up because of mistakes with the sign for ohms, could someone please confirm, that the device doesnt deliver only 50mw (!) into 32 ohms in non desktop mode single ended?
I cannot believe this, as most earphones are single ended and when out and about you probably would use desktop mode of. This would be one of the lowest power out units for mobile use in the market i know of.

Own output power of the mentioned DAC (cs43131). The external amplifier circuit inside provides a much higher output of 170 mw x2 at 32 ohmsenglish please

In order to ensure better performance, power consumption is approaching its limit. We have tried designing a power-saving mode, which will bring poor experiences such as POP sound.@FiiO This review says:
> The power consumption of the FiiO KA13 was measured at 0.14A/0.76W when idling and 0.15A/0.77W while playing a 24bit/96kHz file with the FiiO FT3 (32Ω) at a loud but safe listening volume. This power consumption remains exactly the same in both working modes (desktop and non-desktop) with all kinds of loads (32Ω-300Ω) and at the loudest volume setting. So it gets pretty clear that the FiiO KA13 is always working at full power draw in both amplifier modes and even when idling.
If true, this surprises me. Is it correct? I was under the impression that turning desktop mode off would save power.
Will you be pushing firmware updates to make the KA13 more efficient for phone users? That power draw is about 10% of my phone's battery per hour.

I want to design a timed shutdown function in the next generation of products to facilitate automatic shutdown and energy saving when sleeping at night. I think that would be a great feature! Sometimes I walk away to go do something but then get paranoid with the dongle still plugged in and it'll drain all my battery.
I think this is a fantastic idea.I want to design a timed shutdown function in the next generation of products to facilitate automatic shutdown and energy saving when sleeping at night. What do you think?
Many times i have my headphones with my phone at night and while I am thinking I am ready to sleep i loose my sleep and i need to plug in again. This stress me a lot. I need to know that i have a dongle that although is plugged cannot deplete my battery overnight when not in use.
So far according to my experience only my headphone hack or apple/samsung adapter can accomplish that.
If you can implement this that would be an amazing thing.
Thank you for listening and considering our feedback.
But, this may also mean that when you need to listen to music again after a scheduled shutdown, you have to plug it in again to make it work normally.

That is not ideal as sometimes you watch a movie you think you can sleep then you can't you watch a bit more and so forth...But, this may also mean that when you need to listen to music again after a scheduled shutdown, you have to plug it in again to make it work normally.
Is better than nothing but I was always curious why all the dongles comsume so much energy when nothing is playing. Is like a car in idle state with the engine running. Yes, It spends gasoline but not with the same rate as moving.
Maybe the apple/Samsung adapter does the same but because it spends so much less energy is not noticed in one night.
